Re: Let's talk 2nd chances.
Did the arrest result in a felony conviction? You should check with the NCAA about eligibility. I know there are restrictions on coaches and operators who have a felony (or other) conviction, but I am not sure about athletes.

Good point!
Side Note: Wasn't Randy Moss charged with battery and thus dropped by ND?

Yes, and then went to Florida St. and then ended up at Marshall. So, not sure what kind of charges were there, but he still played.

Fort Dodge...shady? LIES! All LIES! Fort Dodge is merely the armpit of the state, and almost responsible for Veishea no longer existing(among other things).
Spievey and Solomon were pretty solid football players that came from ICCC due to a transfer down for academics. Unfortunately it seems the Hawks use ICCC somewhat frequently, but not so much for ISU that i'm aware of.
Re: Let's talk 2nd chances.
Your story is very similar to the story of a former running back at UNO (Nebraska-Omaha a D2 power) a few seasons ago - Jamar Day. He was a stud, got into trouble in highschool (gangbanging) then found his way back to the field after some time locked up. He was all conference at UNO and easily could have been a D1 star.
It can definitely happen.
Re: Let's talk 2nd chances.
Didn't Jason Berryman get charged with a Felony and come back and play after he served time?
Re: Let's talk 2nd chances.
This happened in Ottumwa a few years ago, Running back was a stud as a sophmore averaging almost 200 a game then come his junior season and he didnt even start. He was skipping practices, class, then end up getting caught breaking and entering. I dont think i have ever seen a kid faster then this kid. He was 6ft 195 lightning fast, high vert, but just lazy had all of the talent in the world and just gave it up. Pisses me off i would kill for that kind of talent.
Re: Let's talk 2nd chances.
He would definitely have to go the JUCO route. But there are wilder stories of people getting a 2nd chance. I would say get him into the JUCO ranks and see how he does.

He and Lavernius Coles were kicked off the Fla. St. team for shoplifting from a mall department store. Coles was reinstated after like a season and Moss went on to Marshall.
Re: Let's talk 2nd chances.
I thought their was an age limit on how old you could be while playing sports at a JUCO. I know theres no age limit for 4 year schools but i thought JUCOs were different.

Then how did he get caught?

Coles was with Warrick. Coles was actually kicked off the team and never reinstated, Warrick was suspended 2 games and lost the Heisman because of the incident.
Funny how the tables have turned.

If I remember correctly, there are no restrictions on age, only eligibility. He would lose years if he had been registered with the NCAA clearinghouse, but age has nothing to do with it.
For example, there was a wrestler at University of Nebraska Omaha (Brent Pankoke) that took four years off after high school, then went back to college.
