Re: Coach Rhoads is still here
2012 is when we play all new teams. The TV networks want it to start right away.
So who will SEC take on Monday? Mizzou?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

So who will SEC take on Monday? Mizzou? God I hope not, I think overall if conferences are looking at colleges with bright futures one would think ISU should be up there.
Not that I think it would happen like that, but don't good programs bring in more money for conferences (and themselves)? If so, you think people would take a good look at ISU and see we have a future.
Of course this is all talking optimistically from the hip without any real reason to back it up but I do have a good feeling that we'll end up fine in all of this. I'm just unhappy it's happening how it's happening.

I've heard a few people close to the source say that Rhoads will Chiz us when given the chance and laugh all the way to the bank. It would be worse on this fanbase's psyche than this current mess.

I don't doubt Fred's ties to ISU are about 100x stronger and cannot see him leaving. This truly is his dream job.

Period"? What I'm asking is there a job that Rhoads won't turn down regardless of whether we match, OR is it just that all things equal, he'd take a few other jobs, but if we can reasonably compete financially he'll stay?

Oh, I really think it'd have to be the right situation for him to go. I just wouldn't pin him down as a guy who'd never leave Iowa State. Things happen.

Ok, that's how I'd peg him. I saw him as a guy who would turn down a few offers to stay here, but could be weaseled away with the right offer. That's how I still see it. I think there are situations where he could leave, but I can't think of a specific program that would do it. I see it happening where someone cuts him a blank check that we simply can't match, and even then some. It would have to be the right someone cutting him a blank check.

With revenue crashing, it would really be time for fans to step up. Every dollar counts.
For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State all the way.
Let's go! To show them what the gang's all here for,
Go! To show them how the Cyclones cheer.
For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State do it right!
It's time to climb up on the vict'ry wagon,
Fight! Iowa State, Fight! Fight! -

This x 1000.
If we join a less prestigious conference it will be essential that the fans continue to be fans by donating and buying tickets and coming to games. We could be a big fish in a small pond if donations and ticket sales don't drop.
