Pac 10 > Big 12 the last 16 years?
I was watching college football live yesterday and Kirk Herbstreit was trying to argue that the Pac 10 has been a stronger conference than the Big 12 ever since the Big 12 was formed. I may be a little biased but I don't see how you can even suggest that. Take away USC (who was cheating the whole time and is now being punished) and Oregon the past couple years and they have nothing on the Big 12.

thats funny because every year they rank the conferences they usually have SEC, and recently it has always been the Big 12 second... right or wrong thats how they had it.

I would probably think that head to head the B12 would have a slight edge.

Kirk H. is a tool. He has the biggest hard on for the Big 10 much like Dickie V and the ACC. Any conference that is stronger (much stronger) then the Big 10 and his pals at Ohio State he goes out of his way to knock them. Kirk is smart enough to realize that if he gets on TV and talks enough smack about the Big XII that there are people out there that will be dumb enough to believe him.... mainly Big 10 fans.

It's close, but Herbstreit was adamant that it was the PAC 10 and not even close. As usual, he's a bit off-the-wall at times.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

Okay, I didn't realize Herbie was going that direction. If he was favoring the Pac 10 slightly over the Big 12, I could buy the argument (even if I don't agree with it). If he's saying it's Pac 10 and not even close, he's being flat out ridiculous.

Re: Pac 10 > Big 12 the last 16 years?
I don't know. The PAC-10 has this weird tradition of one team being elite and then tanking the next year. IIRC Washington, Washington St., Arizona St., USC, UCLA and Oregon have won the Pac-10 over that 16 year span. It's probably easier for Herby to say the PAC-10 is better because he's seen all these teams play and figures the conference must be pretty good if someone else is in the Rose Bowl every year.
Edit: almost forgot Stanford won the PAC-10 title as well

USC is their power school and they have been cheating for how long?

He knows how many TV sets the Big 10 has (thanks big 10 network) so he gets away with being the biggest big 10 kiss *** b/c so many big 10 fans watch the show. Which is also why they also have Desmond Howard on that show and spend 90% talking about the Big 10 and how great and dominant their teams are. And Big 10 fans naturally talk up Pac 10 because they want to make the Rose bowl seem like the most prestigious bowl of all the BCS.

The thing where the Pac 10 would do well is speed. Watching Cal, Oregon, USC, they all look like they are track sprinters.
The thing where the Big 12 would do well is at the lines and surprisingly the QB spots. The Big 12 has had some very solid QB's the last decade.

Re: Pac 10 > Big 12 the last 16 years?
I would say the conferences are pretty even. It seems like USC is atop the Pac10 every year. Texas/Oklahoma is at the top of the Big 12 every year. The Pac10 has won 9 BCS games in the last decade, the Big 12 won 6. USC won 6 of those for the Pac10 (not counting any games they can/will be losing in USC-gate).
The last Pac10 team to win a BCS game, besides, USC, was Oregon in 2001. Besides Texas & Oklahoma, Kansas is the only team from the Big 12 to win a BCS game in the last decade (07-08).
The Big 12 has had more 10 win seasons than the Pac 10 (29 vs 22)in the last decade, but with 2 more teams over the course of 10 years it equals that out to be much closer.
Step 1: Cut a hole in the box.
