What do ISU Fans prefer: Save B12 or Absorb MWC

I have read hundreds of posts here over the past week...and I wonder about the Texas sentiment. I have taken away that you'd rather not be affiliated with them, but understand it's a relationship not just of convenience, but economic viability...would that be a fair characterization for many of you?

I am torn between bigE and keeping big12 alive. 17mill is nice but bigE could be comperable if they form a nework in near future, big markets in the east and sharing, which Texas will never do. The big east argument hinges on big10 not taking schools from bigE in more expansion.

Or, I could just ignore what ISU fans think on the matter, and talk about it solely from my perspective on what I think you are thinking.

You tell me which is better: actually caring about what you think, or assuming what you think through my own prism? It's not like I actually 'need' the feedback. I could go in, flip on the mic without Deace even being there, and talk for two hours on this stuff and not break a sweat, and do it the next day.

Then again, there is a way to do it in a way that is substantive and that will have more impact...and that includes what you think as ISU fans

Is this really a legit question or is it another attempt at your underhanded insults lobbed at ISU. I believe the obvious answer is to remain in the Big 12. With the current money that is being discussed ISU path is clear, keep the Big 12 going.

The MWC isn't a BCS conference yet and will not generate the kind of TV revenue the Big 12 can. Also I can't see KU or ISU rolling into some of those schools and playing basketball for a crowd under 3k, or about the size of U of I average basketball attendance last year.

Big East is interesting but their football tv package is tied up with ESPN for the next few years so any lucrative tv revenue will have to wait. Also there are traveling issues that will have to be addressed. Big East would be good but not great.

I think the lesson learned from this melt down, is money. 17 million a year can fix a lot of issues as well more tv exposure. Its important that ISU position themselves in a conference that can become a Super 16 conference. Funny thing is there is an outside chance it still could be the Big 12, a slim chance but it appears better then in did 48 hours ago.

Economics are the ONLY reason anyone would want to be affiliated with Texas. Texas's motives will never be tied to anyone but themselves. Not A&M, not Tech, not OU, and most certainly not Iowa State. Texas' best interests will never align with Iowa State's, and as far as I'm concerned, removing our dependence on Texas is necessary to ensure the long-term viability of any conference.

Again, a call-in hour could do this for you. Grab a piece of paper and a pen, write down their feelings and talk from there.

You do realize the North sees that easy game as picking up Baylor every year and the South sees that easy game was picking up Iowa State every year right?

That and leaving the Big 12 will absolutely decimate WBB and Volleyball, not to mention give MBB a HUGE uphill climb to any kind of success.

I ask you guys because this is your sports life, and you know it better than me.

My first thought would be to band with the remaining B12 teams, bring in the MWC 10, and add Houston...as it would be better competitively and over time, given that you will be one of the last possible land grabs for the TV networks, the value of these affiliations could be inflated by simple supply and demand; there would be little supply left that hadn't already been gobbled up by conferences making their own networks, and you get another bidding war like you had with the ACC a few weeks back, and you get rid of Texas.

But I am an outsider, which is why I want to see how you all feel about it.

Really? A talk show host comes on a free message board to gather the opinions of a few ISU fans, and then he will probably run with that as being "ISU fans feel"......... Are you serious? This is laughable.
