What do ISU Fans prefer: Save B12 or Absorb MWC

Honestly, if the Big 12 stays together for several more years, collects the traitors' money, gets a new T.V. deal, and give us more money - I'd be more than willing to stay. It is a pretty good conference to be honest.

i really hope the people that want the big east dont get their hopes up too much if the b12 is still an option..b12 is the best option if "beebes plan" is in effect. we keep the tradition, less miles to travel, more money, etc. i dont care that texas is being greedy and wants their own network. texas could save isu athletics because the big east is not exactly a sure thing if the b12 disbands..

Id say i want the big east, but i wont be as disappointed if i heard we were staying in big 12, as I would if we were in the MWC, or as incredibly disappointed id be in the CUSA.

It would be a very similar situation to the big 10 now. Most likely 2 teams going to BCS game as long as they are (UT & OU). Same/existing bowl agreements. More total $$ coming for less teams, seems like more upside than risk. If the new money is distributed at a minimum of 17MM/ per school, not a great deal to p&m about. Missery (MU) may actually realize they did not have it as bad as it seemed. The stupid little tex-net may or may not work out for UT, if it does, good for them. If if does not, they may realize that more $$$ could be garnered by adding the rest of the conference and much of the ground work was laid with an expense going to texas. While Texas may be popular (especially in their own state), they are no Notre Dame. I know that they believe that football is relegion in texas, but one of the reasons ND is so popular is the large amount of Catholics in this country. Sorry Baylor! ND is unique, Texas (nor anybody, save the University of Bejing or Mexico) has the ability to polarize fans and antogonists like ND. You either root for them or against them. Sorry texas and other b-10 teams, you're nice to watch if I have time but I won't create time to watch you. ND I would.

I'm probably not gonna be disappointed either way....can't same the same about the MWC though. I just have a feeling that the South teams are still gonna bolt regardless. I could be wrong though....wouldn't be the first time.

Long answer - Let Texas go and take their little brothers (A&M, OU, OK St. and Tech) with them. These schools are as much to blame as Texas, as their shared mentality is "wherever they go, we go." ISU isn't getting as much support in the state of Iowa that all the Texas schools (minus Baylor) are, but I think that a change of venue would be the opportunity ISU has been looking for. ISU has spent 100 years of trying to find their identity in the Big 8 conference and has come close several times, but hasn't had that opportunity to excel. Let's take the other leftovers and make sure that Missouri knows it's place and work out a new Big 12 with the Mountain West and bring in some universities who know how it feels to be the little guy. That conference already has some of the most passionate and sought-after football coaches: Chris Petersen, Gary Patterson, Bronco Mendenhall, Kyle Whittingham. Add one of the best coaches in modern football, Bill Snyder, and add Gary Pinkel, up-and-comers Paul Rhodes and Turner Gill, and a man who never had a chance in the Big 12, but has potential - Art Briles. That could be one of the best coached conferences in the country and brings young, passionate coaches that could change the college football landscape.

Short answer - absorb the MWC

we need to look at this the same way everyone else is, and that is what makes isu more $$$$$$$$$$$$. clearly that would be staying in the big xii even if there are hard feelings and even if we are just texas's *****. similarly, we shouldn't add teams unless they increase revenue, doing otherwise and just adding teams for the sake of adding could decrease our share of the new tv deal as it is split more ways. that is the game as it is played today.

This is a easy one. Absorb the MWC. As a conference will we get around $75 million (if my math is correct) in buyouts from the schools that are leaving. We will remain in a BCS conference, but will be one of the bigger schools in the conference instead of one of the smaller ones.

This would seem like a nice scenario, but won't we get a lot more money with the new Big XXII (10). Need to keep the $$$ flowing in. Whatever happens, I just want Kansas to come to Hilton every year.

My sources have told me that ISU has gotten an offer from the Big East and the Mountain West at this point. The dollars are not what the Big 12 is talking, so we are holding our cards close. The Big 12 dollars would be comparable to what we could get from a Big 10 offer, $17-18 million. Big factor is travel expense for minor sports. They would go through the roof with the BE, and the time involved for athletes is significant. I look for a Big 12 option, with a TV tie-in with another conference.

My ideal scenario would be saving the Big XII by adding THREE teams. We would need three, because Texas would be kindly asked to leave.
