Schedule/Recruits With a 10 team Big 12
I am not talking future schedules and ooc games, but simply conference games. I have heard some people talking about how the conference schedule will be increasing in difficulty which is very true, but I also think our recruiting in Texas now increases.
NU and CU will lose some recruiting ties to the area and we will have less competition with the North Schools for the Texas recruits.
Maybe this optimistic thinking but I think it has legit reasoning. And playing Texas and Oklahoma every year doesn't scare me, to be the best you gotta beat the best. Only one thing to do, "Win the whole ****** thing"

Re: Schedule/Recruits With a 10 team Big 12
I don't know why anyone would think that the new Big 12 is only going to have 10 teams. Nebraska and CU aren't leaving for two years and I bet there will still be time this coming season for the Big 12 to add two more teams and get it back to what it's like now.
...Straight going donkey... -

Doesn't CU leave in 1 year?

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -
Re: Schedule/Recruits With a 10 team Big 12
I wonder how we will do it with NU gone but CU here, unless we bring in one north team one year and one the next. If we aren't bringing in anyone, we have to adjust the schedules somehow.

The Big 11 Has Worked
Setting up an 11 team schedule is no big deal, the Big 10 has done it for 15 years, just do away with the North & South.

Kids are gonna wanna play there. CU on the other hand, why on earth would ANY kid from Texas wanna go there, especially now. IMO - Iowa State needs to dominate recruiting of Texas over the likes of KU, KSU, Mizzou now. If the kids are coming up north, they are coming up here because we support our program better than any of those. I seriously feel some good days for the Cyclones in the future. Conference intact + money + TV + Paul Rhoads. VERY excited about ISU's chances to dominate the north teams (even if we no longer have the two divisions.)

Re: Schedule/Recruits With a 10 team Big 12
Nebraska leaves in 2011. CU is scheduled to leave in 2012. Let's say Utah is the 12th team in the Pac. Boise St is scheduled to join the Mountain West in 2011, so I'd think the Big 12 might allow CU to leave in 2011, and not pay an increased penalty. In this way, the new Big 12 can move ahead with their new scheduling rotation in 2011, and not have a "lame duck" season with CU involved. Also, the Mountain West would stay at a constant 9 teams, with Boise replacing Utah in 2011. My 2 cents.

Re: Schedule/Recruits With a 10 team Big 12
This will eventually hurt NU's TX HS presence. KU and MU have more Texas recruits then the entire Big 10 put together. As a KU fan I love this because it will also hurt NU's presence in KC. I hope we stay with the 10 team conference. We can then tell TX HS recruits they will play in TX twice a year. We will always have a distance disadvantage with TX HS recruits compared to the South schools but this will help that somewhat.

Back in the day, I had several friends who were on the team who were from Texas, and they said a big draw for coming to Iowa State for them was that they got to "go home" twice a year. They loved the chance to see their families (especially since they couldn't always afford to go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas) and they loved getting to play in front of/against their old buddies at the stadiums they grew up knowing. NU can't provide that "close to home" feel in the Big X. Nor can the NU coaches tell recruits "hey, we're playing at Texas Tech next weekend, you should try to come over to the game and see how proud I am to be this team's coach."

Curious about what happens to NU's scheduled game in 2011? Can we replace it with a cream puff, because our schedule that year absolutely ridiculous...
Getting @Nebraska replaced with a home game against a MAC sounds good to me.

Re: Schedule/Recruits With a 10 team Big 12
UNL can afford to pay the extra penalty to leave early. CU is not so lucky. I'm wondering what they're going to do to pay, maybe take out a loan against future revenue? The Pac 10 without that big group of name teams and USC on probabtion doesn't look as good in the short-term. What do they do now to raise their conference's profile?
