ISU Key Recruiting Areas (Locations)
Sure we all agree with TX and FL as key areas to be recruiting in, what other targeted territories is critical to ISU and why? Thoughts:
A. Is Iowa critical to ISU success, possibly not but it would be nice to gett top 2 -4 student/athletes per year.
B. Would like to see us focus again on top 1 -2 student/athletes out of Omaha area? Yah Bates was a debacle, but feel the Chizik deal never set right with him.
C. Where else?

Re: ISU Key Recruiting Areas (Locations)
I think the upper Midwest is awfully important. It's an area that is close and the kids and parents will know of ISU and will also be able to travel here to see games. I think it's lightly recruited relative to the South. I just think we'll find more diamonds in the rough(ARob comes to mind) than we'll find in the more heavy recruit areas.
I like Rhoads emphasis on the Houston area and Florida. That all makes sense to me.

Focus on Iowa and Nebraska, the Upper Mid-West (Illinois, Minny, Dakota's), the Oklahoma area (Tulsa, Ok City), Texas (All), Florida and California.

Pennsylvania. Has decent talent and has some great up-and-coming HS programs. CPR already has some connections there from when he was the DC at Pitt and Coach Bray was the Gatorade Player for the state when he was in HS and also played and coached at Pitt.

I believe the states they focus the most are Iowa, Florida, Texas, California and Oklahoma, with additional focus on the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kansas JUCOs and KC.

They should focus on Hawaii so we can get some Samoan linemen. -

I think that other than texas and florida we need to recruit California, Oklahoma, and Ohio along with the surounding states

Re: ISU Key Recruiting Areas (Locations)
1. Texas
2. Texas
3. Texas again.
With losing NU and CU, and playing every single Texas school EVERY year on our schedule... that's where you turn.
We play 4 Texas schools and 2 Oklahoma schools EVERY year now. Chances are pretty good we might play 2 of those 4 Texas schools on the road and 1 of the OK schools every year. That's 3 trips every year to Texas or OK for parents of these Texas kids to see them play. You sell that BIG TIME.

We don't really recruit Wisconsin all that hard.

Re: ISU Key Recruiting Areas (Locations)
colorado, nebraska, s.dak., n. dak., minn. iowa, wisconsin, ill. ,mich, ind., ohio, penn state, fla.,missouri, kansas, okla., texas, california are good places to recruit.
we were able to recruit minn, illinios(chicago) and ohio under stapelton, majors, and earl bruce.i think we need to recruit minnesota harder and spend some time in chicago and in ohio.i think coach paul rhoads has coach bill bleil doing this.we always had some good chicago kids and quality kids from ohio in the 50's,60's, and 70's.i believe we lost the midas touch in those areas.
minnesota was always a place coach bob devaney from nebraska found big norwegian and swede offensive and defensive linemen.have all the genetics decreased mammoth linemen in minnesota due to inbreeding????????

Re: ISU Key Recruiting Areas (Locations)
Population:
Dallas/Ft Worth Metro area - 6.4 million
South Dakota/North Dakota/Nebraska/Iowa Combined - 6.16 million
I'm not saying to completely avoid recruiting the midwest, but there are single high school teams in Texas and Florida with more D1 recruits in a year than entire states in the midwest.

Re: ISU Key Recruiting Areas (Locations)
I could care less if we get any players from Iowa. Just rent a place in Dallas and Miami so we have an assistant there all the time.
