Re: Revenue Increase
Thanks for the post Cigar, interesting read. Hopefully we have some success on the TV games this year, which will hopefully spark more TV interest in the future = more money.

Re: Revenue Increase
This is really no big news. More exposure=more money?
If UofI didn't benefit from the BigTen revenue sharing you have to wonder how competitive they would be year in and year out. If money is dispersed evenly, then in theory, all teams would be on a level playing field. If UofI had to work with ISU's budget they would be cellar dwellars of the conference, too. They absolutely ignore that fact. Typical of Tikerhawk to say that. Ignore the handouts you recieve, but not hesitate a second to point out the lack of others' fortune. Classic. UofI makes money off OSU/PSU primetime Saturday night game. Does ISU make anything off UT/Oklahoma?

Re: Revenue Increase
I am wondering if the article is wrong in saying ISU doesn't earn money for the Northern Illinois game. They seemed to imply that it would be on FCS and not FSN in the article.

I don't know if we would earn nothing, but if you look at the Big 12 bylaws about TV revenue distribution there is a stipulation that the broadcast must reach a certain number of televisions to count toward a share of TV money.
The article is probably correct that the number of TVs reached wouldn't be enough in those games.

Re: Revenue Increase
But (Iowa) they do have more money. Whatever the reason, they've put themselves in a financial position to be competitive. That is what we need to do - we need to position ourselves athletically and financially to be more competitive, so when the next round of reallignment comes up, we have options to join more than just the also ran conferences.

TV money is not going to do that alone. In the article it says we make 800,000 to 1,000,000 in ticket sales per a game. That number needs to increase.

Vocal minority indeed, but for some reason that minority isn't so minor and is very vocal. I'm on twitter @mookjnsn ... me, not her.
