The Insight Bowl was on NFL Network on New Year's Eve night. That's pretty much all you need to know about why the ratings were low.

The game started at 3:00 on the west coast and 4:00 in the mountains, I don't know a lot of people that go out that early in the afternoon.

Heck, I don't know anybody that goes out at 6:00 to start celebrating for New Year's Eve.

Nope, New Year's Eve evening game was probably nearly as big of a factor.

Didn't affect my NYE plans. It was actually pretty nice to watch the game and celebrate the victory with the usual festivities

winning year after year would help and not 7-6 every year either, need to have a few 10 win season for people to start taking us seriously

There was no way ESPN would have ranked us high, since the game wasn't on their networks. If the game was on ESPN, everything else being equal, they would have ranked that game higher.

I disagree with that last statement, just about everybody I know starts celebrating New Year's Eve before 6 PM. Course most of my friends really like to party.

Yeah being on the NFL network really screwed us. I think if it had been on ESPN we may have seen a rating around 3-4.

That probably has a lot to do with the fact that it was an ISU game, and the less ESPN has to cover ISU, the better their life is in their opinion.

It was definitely one of the better bowl games of the year, definitely top 5.

I was out in Orange County and since I didn't have the NFL network I just found an empty bar (since it was like 4 in the afternoon) and got them to put it on. No place has the NFL network on by default.

Really? I think it was a part of it.

You can't ignore the fact that two mediocore teams played a complete snooze-fest of a game though.
