Sims information

So since the other thread turned into a battle of urination... I was hoping we could have people just post the known facts in this one so they are easy to read. I will try and update the first post when I get relevant information. If you have rumors, feel free to post those but I won't be updating this post until that rumor has some credibility. Please feel free to post links as well and I'll add them to the bottom of this post.

So...here's what we know so far:

1. Credit Card was taken to Ames by a woman's son
2. Said woman reports her credit card was stolen
3. Multiple items purchased with credit card in question.
4. Warrant issued to search Sims residence (has at least one roommate)
5. Police not releasing what if anything was found at Sim's residence.
6. Sims Charged with Unauthorized use of a credit card (aggravated misdemeanor)
7. Sims stripped of Co-captain status - farther punishment pending...

7-26-10 UPDATE: Coach Paul Rhoads when asked if Sims would be playing this fall said "Yea, he'll be a part of our team" and that there should be more info in the next 24 to 48 hours. Sounds like good news for us.

That is all i know. Help me fill in the gaps please.

Not sure if anyone had already posted this article yet but it did at least confirm what several posters had stated saying the alleged victims son had taken the card with him to Ames. I hadn't seen anything officially reporting that until now.

Please try and be responsible in this thread fanatics. Throwing crap against the wall to see if it sticks is no good for anybody, especially Iowa State. Let's try and keep this respectable and about the topic at hand. Thanks in advance.

I just saw this story confirming that the alleged victim's son did in fact take the credit card in question with him to Ames as had been rumored and denied by those supposedly in the know. Another interesting twist.

Her son had the credit card and either lost it or had it stolen.

Did she in fact report it "stolen" or just report it "missing" and then that there were unauthorized charges?

My questions really surround the son. How old is the kid? Does he have any connection to Sims or his roommate that are potentially involved? You never know what kind of scenarios could be involved here or any that have come to light. Am I the only one that finds this incredibly strange that no charges have been filed yet against Sims if the search warrant produced evidence against him? IMO it seems like there has to be something with the son that is slowing this process down and that is why charges have not been filed.

I'd like to know (factually) what linked Sims to this case. Was he trying to use the card and got busted. Doesn't sound like it since they pulled security tapes from vendors where she said it was used. So did they identify him from those tapes. That's the only thing that makes sense.

I too find it a little odd that nothing has really come out today AT ALL. But as fbcurt mentioned earlier - the DA would press the charges so it may take a few days to review the police information.

When does practice start? Will we have an indication of guilt or innocence, suspension or punishment by that time?

So far, from what I can tell, is that the only connection that Sims has is that there was a search warrant for his apartment. He does have a roommate. Also, they found items on the warrant in the apartment.

I agree. So they have security tape footage and allegedly they found something linked to this at Sim's place. To me that would seem like an absolute slam dunk as far as charges if they have Sims on those tapes. There has to be something more to it. It really seems like a very cut and dry sort of a deal that you can figure out pretty quickly whether he did or did not use this card himself. Why the hold up?

That's what I understand as well.

I'm just curious as to exactly why or how they found their way from the stores/card to Sims? What's the link (don't think that info is out there)

That is my concern too.. what is up with the kid..
