Mr. Pollard,
I am writing to you concerning the Iowa State and Kansas State annual football game. There has been recent discussion among Iowa State fans and alumni that the annual game should add a traveling trophy to improve the budding rivalry between the two institutions, particularly after the game was moved to Arrowhead Stadium.
KSU and ISU are very similar universities in culture and have parallel backgrounds and opinions. Both schools have a large emphasis on agriculture and have largely contributed to the world and scientific community as a whole. A potential traveling trophy between the schools could add to the connection between Manhattan and Ames, especially if the trophy was based around agricultural. Among fans, the game has been called “Farmageddon.” An appropriate title that could potentially have the trophy be a plow, windmill, tractor or another symbol of agriculture that could be designed by students of the two schools.
The loss of two members of the Big 12 conference is also a loss of rivals, especially for KSU. A new trophy between KSU and ISU schools could add tradition to both schools as well as improve conference unity. Several other BCS teams have added trophies in the last decade, especially in the light of conference realignment. Boston College and Clemson added the O'Rourke-McFadden Trophy in 2008 in the wake of ACC realignment. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati added the Paddlewheel Trophy in 2005 after Big East realignment.
Our friends to the East, Iowa and Wisconsin, also added the Heartland Trophy in 2004. The Iowa and Wisconsin trophy is very similar to a potential ISU and KSU trophy, due to the teams having played for over 100 years before a traveling trophy was added to the game. Your experience at Wisconsin during the time the trophy was adapted must have given you some insight to the potential of a new trophy.
A new trophy for the ISU and KSU series is an interesting idea and one I hope you take into consideration. I'd like to thank you for listening and for all of your hard work. Go Cyclones!
Thank you for your email and idea about the KSU series. At this point I do not anticipate that we will continue to play the series in Kansas City after this year. Unfortunately the ticket sales each year have not made it a very good deal for the Chief's organization. They provided both KSU and our athletics programs very generous guarantees to make up for our giving up home games and they have not seen the returns they had hoped from our fans.
I will share your idea about a traveling trophy with our staff for consideration. Thanks again for your support and interest in Cyclone athletics.

Hmmm. Based on what I know about Deere's market share, we must be doing something right with tractors, combines ... and construction and forestry equipment, too. But don't let my 33 years @ Deere stand in the way of your well-informed opinion.
not bad at all...I also like that corn is more BA than wheat. And as mentioned earlier, more phallic in nature. It kinda shows ISU is the man in the relationship/rivalry. The big thing is going to be attendance. Everyone is gonna want to come out for ISU/KSU and ya know what? We always play each other in some GREAT games. I love Farmageddon and can't wait until KC. Definitely should be come a rival and a trophy would just be icing on the cake.
It looks a bit too much like the Cy-Hawk Trophy. I like it when trophies have one big ugly thing on them, like the Floyd pig, or the boot CSU and Wyoming play for.
How about a a big harvesting sickle? it would be like the axe that Minne and Wisc play for.
