Utah - "Must Win" game of 2010

The Kansas City Star calls Utah Iowa State's "must win" game of 2010.

To get to a bowl game, the Star could be right. Jack Whitver and I discussed this last week on KXNO. I have four swing games circled on Iowa State's schedule this year.

Utah...Kansas...Kansas State and Texas Tech.

I think Iowa State will be a slight favorite over Kansas. Probably a slight dog to Kansas State...and I think that it is a toss up as to what an opening line will look like against Utah and Tech, depending on what the teams have done up to that point.

I completely agree Chris. Although I think we are a 4 to 7 point dog against both TT and Utah. Both games are winnable and to go to a bowl game I think we have to beat Utah

Care to explain why? What do you see in Utah that would cause the concern? Everyone else out there sees this as an evenly matched, toss up game.

Utah, TTech, and in some sense, Nebraska are the 3 swing games I've pinned on the schedule. Winning 1 of those 3 is necessary in order to make a bowl game, considering no bigger upsets on the schedule.

If ISU can pull off an upset of Iowa (you never know with rivalry games) then it would not necessarily be a must win. A 2-2 non conference record would make it very challenging for ISU to reach bowl eligibility. So ISU most likely needs to beat either Utah or Iowa as well as the UNIs.

utah is 32-7 over the past 3 seasons. we are 12-25 over the same span. i would hardly call it a tossup.

No question Utah comes to Jack Trice as favorites. Probably a TD favorite.
