This is just speculation on my part, but I think eventually, Bennett will move to LB, and both Hollis and Mattison will move to safety.

Blankenship is probably too short for LB. I don't know about Woody? But 7 RBs in a one back offense seems like way too many to me? Woody is 2nd on the depth chart at RB. He got a lot of hype during the spring. Why would you move him?
After ARob is gone, we are going to need a lot of RB to replace his production until someone takes control of the position.

And no... as I stated, I have no idea where Adrian Bennett will end up. But he is really the only DB with the size that could be moved to LB... a position that we could desperately need more depth. I thought it made some sense? Obviously he will most likely be a safety at this point though.

After ARob is gone, we are going to need a lot of RB to replace his production until someone takes control of the position. I'm just pointing to the fact that we have 7 scholarship RBs, if you include Woody who will be getting one soon I'm sure. We play with a one back offense. So that is a 7 to 1 ratio of available guys to how many can start.
If we had that same ratio for LBs... we'd need 21 scholarship LBs. For OL, we'd need 35 scholarship O-linemen.
So... I'm just saying that we are limited in the number of scholarships we can hand out. Do we need 7 RBs? I think that is a very fair question to ask? I think we could use some more D-linemen, but that's just my opinion. I think it's something we can discuss and have fun with though?

Let me know if this works? I've never done an attachment before on here. That gives us a great look by position. Thanks for doing that and sharing. The thing that jumps off the paper at me is DB. We need a big class of talent this year at both safety and corner. OL is lloking pretty good - need to keep it looking that way. We talked about Tiller's potential at RB above. He needs to stay right where he is, at QB. The most important skills are not physical. The number one skill required is decision making and number 1a is leadership. I thought he did OK in Lincoln last year on a very limited basis. With a few added pounds of muscle, he could really be a good one for us. And coach has set it up for a pretty seamless transition. In terms of physical skill required, we are thinnest at DE. No 6-4 / 260 guys to be found. We need to recruit a little taller for that position.

Depending on how Jared Barnett looks coming into next spring, I really think Tiller might have a future at another position. God, I'd love to see him at WR.

Jerome Tiller "could", and I emphasize the word "could" because I have no idea how good James Capello or Jared Barnett are, but Tiller could be the next Austin Flynn IMO.
Tiller and Flynn are both incredible athletes, but possibly not best suited for the QB position. It's still too early to tell with Tiller of course, but it is a possibility. But it's no argument that these two are tremendous athletes. Tiller might be the best overall athlete on the team? He's fast, he's strong (he's on a lot of the weightlifting achievment charts), he can jump, he's elusive, etc. On top of that, Flynn and Tiller are great leaders.
So.... IF Tiller ever gets beat out at QB, I think the staff will have no choice but to move Tiller to WR. He's too good of an athlete and too good of a leader to be holding a clipboard. Same as Flynn. I hope Tiller ends up being a great QB for us. He's unbelievably explosive as a runner, he just needs more consistency with his throws. But if not, I think he'd also be an AMAZING WR as well.

Take snaps in practice at the QB spot, and playing WR in games, while slated as the #2 QB. That way he doesn't rot on the bench, but he's still our back up QB.

But I agree, Tiller's too valuable to be standing on the sideline. He's just too good. One of our best athletes. I say get him on the field as much as you can, unless you have zero confidence in Capello and Barnett as your backup? Because the problem occurs if Tiller gets injured playing WR. If so, you have to be very confident that either Capello or Barnett are good enough to step in. That would be the question?

Theres 8 upperclassmen in the rotation and ISU will lose 3 to graduation next spring. Also looks like at least 2 sophs will see some serious action this fall. Its not a great situation, but its not as bad as its ALWAYS made out to be here.
