ISU is in the top 30 schools in the entire country in athletics. The Director's Cup says so. How good is TCU at basketball? You're exactly right. Kicking the "losing" schools out of the BCS would not solve anything. In conference play, you will always have winners and losers. The games will be played, and someone will have to lose them.
You could compare it to the NFL. This would almost be like kicking the Lions out of the NFL and adding the Texas Longhorns because of how many games they win. Neglecting to see how good the teams were that the Lions played.
So TCU beats up on the MWC... and eventually they build themselves into a pretty darn good program. This is HAS TO happen!! Someone in that conference HAS to become good! They can't ALL lose!
Such claims like this by the Bleacher report are just stupid.

Re: Kick ISU out of the BCS
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to step down from my job. I really enjoyed my job... and I do a pretty good job and my co-workers all like me... but I know there are some recent graduates that are looking for the same type of job... and some of those guy's have done rediculously good in school and I've decided to step down to make room in the job market for them! This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine. -

Maybe not bad, but it sure is misleading - track/cross country was responsible for 42% of our total points.

Re: Kick ISU out of the BCS
I hate the argument that a lesser school with an amazing record (Boise St as an example) would fair just as well in a BCS conference. Boise is a good team, but they would undoubtably take a hit in win % if they went to the Pac-12.
Sure they have proven they can beat the likes of OU, but 1 game a year versus top notch competition, and having to pull out ALL the stops to beat them hardly justifies moving other schools out of a conference to make room.
I have said for a while that if ISU were in the WAC or C-USA, etc they would be a top tier non-BCS school, and it may actually change the perception of ISU being a bottom 10 program. We would become a Fresno St, BSU, TCU type team. 9 wins a season in a lesser conference. We may be a better team in a BCS conference, but the wins don't add up the same as BSU playing 9 nobodies in-route to an 11 win season. If we were to get bumped to a non-BCS conference we would more than likely finish in the top 1-2 every year within that conference, thus starting the "ISU should move up to a BCS conference and Team X should drop down."

ISU is in the top 30 schools in the entire country in athletics. The Director's Cup says so. How good is TCU at basketball? BCS. That means football. The guy is saying kick those teams out of big time FOOTBALL conferences. Not basketball. TCU would compete for titles in a BCS conference. They already get very good recruiting classes, being in a BCS conference would only make recruiting that much better.

That is all fine and good if you look at the structure of our team as it is now, and moving that into their conference. I believe that if we moved permanently in their conference we would slowly regress to their level...recruiting (which is already hard), coaching, budget. It is hard to say we would be a top-tier non BCS school with everything we would lose.

I don't care if no one cares. It is an objective measure of ISU's athletic performance. We did well. It is okay to be proud of that
I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others. -

When a fan from another team jokes about ISU being a weak opponent and their response is "Oh well look how we did in the Director's Cup." It's those type of comments that are embarrassing. Maybe not everyone feels that way and that's fine, I take back my comment about no one caring. My point was that other teams who have prestigious football and men's basketball programs could care less how Iowa State fared in the Director's Cup. Heck, I had never even heard of the Director's Cup until this year. And for the comment about not trading a win in football for our position in the Director's Cup, that's understandable, but would you trade a solid FB team that goes to a BCS game for the Director's Cup? I bet if we had a team that went to a BCS game or a bball team that goes to the Elite 8 there won't be one single post on here referring to the Director's Cup. Sorry to generalize everyone in my previous post, I meant other teams' fans don't care, not ISU fans
