    I still can't get over the amount of people on this board that think we'll beat Tech just because of the new coach. We have a better chance against Utah than we do against Tech.

    NIU... Win
    @Iowa... Loss
    @(Neutral)KSU... Win
    UNI... Win
    TTU... Loss
    Utah... Loss
    @OK... Loss
    @TX... Loss
    KU... Win
    NU... Loss
    @CU... Win
    MIZZ... Loss

    My prediction = 5-7

    I really do think that KSU, Utah, KU, and MIZZOU can go either way though.

    And just about everyone seems to be putting kNU in the win column as well.

    What weird reality are you living in? I have not seen even a majority of people saying the NU game is a win, let alone "just about everyone."

    Yeah, maybe a majority of crazy people who start threads like these are picking a win over NU, but the more rational guys picking us to finish with 5-7 wins are not for the most part.

    Now, that doesn't mean that NU is unbeatable. I think their offense is still unspectacular and their D will miss Suh more than any of them are willing to admit. Thier D will still be great, but not as good as last year in my mind.

    If ISU does beat Nu this year, it will take a lot less of a mriaculous turn of events than it did last year. If we have our starting QB and RB healthy and are going against a defense without one of the best DTs in recent history, then we have a better chance than last year. It might be a 30% chance as opposed to the 10% last year, but it is better than nothing.

    If we don't have any significant injuries or suspensions, and we don't shoot ourselves in the foot a game or two, this is possible.

    IMO, this is about as likely as I thought going to a bowl game was at this time last year.

    Dead on. and I don't actually think this thread is that crazy. This is just an if everything goes PERFECT scenario for us.

    I don't think it will happen, but just because the OP picked us to win over NU, and a couple of other posters did too, does not constitute a majority.

    I would actually disagree - see 2009, Paul Rhoads' year one.

    We won every game we absolutely should have and we took a couple most people said 'no way' to. We beat NU at their place - the importance and historical significance of that really cannot be overstated. The Kansas and KSU games before the season were toss ups or mostly in their favor, the Iowa game was absolutely not one we were picked for and then closing with a bowl win against Minnesota was huge for the program.

    Most sites had us pegged at 3-9 last year - check out CFN, for one.

    8-4 is a big stretch, but I do honestly see 6-6 or 7-5 as possible - this new coaching staff is the most competent we've had across the board since Earl Bruce and crew and after the bowl win, the key intangible of sheer confidence is in full effect with all the players. I think the KSU and Kansas games are tables turned this year, Colorado is a dead man walking, so broke they can't even fire their coach, TTU is unlikely, but I think we will sneak one in and that might be it. Should be a good year if we can knock of Northern Illinois to start it off!
