Favorite Tailgating Beverages/Food...
Im sure their are the people that love just brats or burgers at a tailgate but anybody have anything lets say unusual or traditional that they bring to their tailgates..
Me and My tailgate crew usually pass around 3 different bottles of Mad Dog 20/20 before the game starts all different flavors. Something different every home game. My brother an ISU Alum since 1999 has done this for sometime.. and I love it. We did a breakfast casserole on the grill for the Iowa game a few years back(new for me). But just wondering if anybody had anything unusual/traditional.

One of the successful surprises at our tailgate has been gyros. Slices of lamb are really easy to grill and they are lean and have great flavor. Quick cooking and easy cleanup. Grab some pita bread and chop a bunch of veggies - then add some creamy cucumber dressing and you have a one-handed meal.
I was never a big lamb eater until ISU tailgates - too easy and too tasty not to do at least once a year.

Food: In college, we were too worried about getting drunk to put much effort into this, but since then the food gets better every year. Lately, for morning games, my GF makes eggbake, which heats up well on the grill and is a big hit. I try to incorporate a wide variety of meat throughout the season. Last year I made Bison steaks for the NDSU game, and they turned out great. I always love boiling my brats in beer Friday night and firing 'em up saturday, as I always use brats from my family's pigs. When it comes to burgers, I like to mix in garlic, onions, peppers, and cumin into the meat. Gives 'em a great flavor. DRINK: I'm a huge bloody mary fan. Again, for any morning game it's a must for my tailgate.
Bloody Mary:
Vodka
Tomato Juice
Pickle Juice
Worchestershire Sauce
Tabasco
garlic salt
celery salt
black pepper
seasoning salt
horseradish
garnish w/pickle, olive, jerky
For beer, I like to bring some Olde Main to every game, and also Grain Belt.

Beer and Brats are my favorite. Not original I know, but it's the best IMO.
"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived, and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."

Re: Favorite Tailgating Beverages/Food...
Last year I did a shrimp boil at one game and a crawdad boil at another. Both have become my new favorite. We just lined a folding table with newspaper and threw everything on the table and people came and ate as they pleased. Looking to do both types at once this year as I think I have it figured out. Also love doing steak and pork chop sandwiches. Might also try doing a Jambalaya this year too.
One of my cousins used to do steak and eggs wrapped in crepes for early games, those were awesome.
As far as drinks go it is Grain Belt for me and Mich Golden for the wife. Keep it simple there.
Edit: Can't believe I forgot to mention bloodies. A must have for the 11 o'clock games.

Re: Favorite Tailgating Beverages/Food...
I try to mix it up on food so I'm not always doing burgers and brats. If we have a later time I've done stuff that takes longer like small beef or pork roasts to slice up for BBQ sandwiches, ribs. Sometimes do pork chops, various chicken things like legs or boneless breasts. Once did hobo dinner which is hamburger, potato, carrots, other veggies wrapped up in tin foil.
Drinks, normally beer but the night before we might break out the captain or jack or for early morning vodka drinks or tequilla sunrise.

To change it up a little bit sometimes do hamburger or pork burger and mix in some ground breakfast sausage with it and add a little wine before you cook it. Have also added pineapple and fresh green beans and that was great too. However you make it it makes for a great food to eat while drinking before games.

Re: Favorite Tailgating Beverages/Food...
We do ribs, pork loins, chili, don't really do much burgers/brats. My favorite is for an early game. I grill thin cut ribeyes, butter a bun and toast that, fry an over easy egg, put some Tostitos consasa and makes one hell of a sandwich. Then after the game it is steak sandwiches. Drink are beer, bloodys, apple cider, jungle juice, Irish coffee, BV.

For the nice weather games:
Fajitas - marinate beef, chicken, pork the day before. Grill it up with some peppers+onions. Throw it in homemade tortillas. Amazing.
And of course, homemade guacamole (made that morning) and chips.
Goes great with margaritas, mojitos, or your favorite mexican beer.
