If not, you're just a spectator, like the rest of us. First off, I'm pretty sure boards like this are meant for speculating. I've appreciated the people who have given constructive critisism to this idea. I just assume the one's who can only name call don't have any original ideas anyway. So their opinions don't really bother me.
Second, like I said already, reading Barta's comments pretty much confirmed my OPINION that this game is not going to go on business as usual. "If we both go to nine games and if we both get into a situation where one of us would lose out on seven home games, that would probably trigger a tough discussion.”
Now that's not a confirmation quote by any means. But it does show that some tough decisions may have to be made. And it shows that there could be some pretty large hurdles involved with that decision. While I am 100 percent confident that Iowa would never give up that 7th home game just to play at ISU, I wouldn't be surprised if they would go for something like playing the game at Soldier Field. Lots of boosters there, bigger stage, good recruiting ground, ect.

Every other 12 team conference plays an 8 game conference schedule. Why change a format that works?

All kidding aside, if the series is dropped it is because of Iowa. Barta's comments were misleading when he spoke of "Jamie wanting seven home games too". JP did not say that, Barta said it for JP (which happened to help Barta's arguement). IMO ISU will keep a home and home series with Iowa and find a payoff school to make up the home game for the years of an away game at Iowa. Iowa will not. If the big 10 goes to 9 games Iowa will find a way to get out of the series. They can not stand to go 5-5 to ISU for another decade.

I think there's enough passion between both fanbases that we wouldn't have too much trouble filling up any stadium. And you have to figure that Chicago or KC would love to see Iowans invading their cities and emptying their wallets. Also, you would be talking about some epic tailgating. Chicago is an awesome town, too. But, I don't like yanking the revenue away from Iowa City and Ames. Those towns are full of great businesses who suport these teams 365 days, every year. They deserve these weekends. It would not be right to deny them.

By playing nine games instead of eight, the conference believes that they can preserve some of the rivalries that may get lost in only having an eight game conference schedule. Basically they want to prevent what happened to the Oklahoma and Nebraska rivalry once the Big XII was formed.

The game will continue as is. This subject is stupid and based in idle speculation.

Re: Iowa/ISU at Soldier Field
Well while you're at it maybe you should move the Notre Dame vs Michigan game to North Dakota.

Re: Iowa/ISU at Soldier Field
Out of state doesn't make sense to me. I'd just keep it as is.
