Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules

I don't think our record would be much different either way. I have us around .500 with both schedules. I've got Iowa going 9-3 if they had our slate. Honestly I don't think either team would fair drastically different than if they played their own schedule.

you are swapping the toughest schedule in the country for one of the easier schedules in the country. I'd put ISU at 8-4 with iowa's schedule and iowa gets 4 losses with our's

Wow, that kool aid must be tasty. I don't see 3 games I'd say are locks for us with Iowa's schedule or even 3 I could be sure we'd be favored in.

    Our record wouldn't change.

Iowa would lose 1 or maybe 2 more games with our schedule.

Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules

    ISU
    own schedule 5-7
    Iowas 7-5
    Iowa
    own schedule 10-2
    ISUs 9-3

Iowa loses to Michigan and OSU this year, with our schedule they lose to Texas and OU for sure, probably either Missouri or TT, long shot Utah, ISU, Arizona

If ISU plays Iowas, the only sure loss is to OSU, followed by Michigan on the road, the rest of the schedule is winnable.

it goes to show you, that if we deserve to go to a bowl game, our schedule shouldn't prevent us from getting to one. Despite how tough it is, if we're good enough, we'll be in one.

Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules

    @Texas (4) > OSU (2)
    @Oklahoma (8) > Wisconsin (12)
    Nebraska (9) > Penn St (14)
    Utah (24) = @Arizona
    Mizzou > Mich St
    Ok St > @Northwestern
    Texas Tech > Minnesota
    N. Illinois = Michigan
    KU > Ball St
    Colorado > Indiana
    Northern Iowa > E. Illinois

Ranking the opponents like this (best to worst) really shows the difficulty of our schedule. I think that fact alone gives Iowa 1 or 2 more losses. By the same token, you'd almost have to predict that we'd have the same or more wins playing Iowa's schedule.

I don't see a single guaranteed loss for Iowa on their schedule, of course its likely that they lose 1 or 2. If they played our schedule, I'd give them 2 nearly guaranteed losses (it's not east to win AT Texas or OU), and then each opponent after that would be more difficult than their own schedule. I'd say they lose 3 on our schedule.

Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules

im not so sure iowa would lose to OU or Texas. They are evenly ranked, and they have proven they can compete against good teams. And neither OU or texas are as star studded as the last few years. Being on the road doesn't help though.

I think at worst, Iowa goes 7-5 with our schedule. More likely they would go 8-4 or 9-3.

I think for us with Iowa's schedule, at worst we go 3-9. More likely we go 5-7 or 6-6.

Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules

The 'toughest schedule in the country' thing doesn't matter as much if you are talking about one of the best defenses in the country and the team Iowa probably has. It sort of softens it.

I have ISU going 3-1 in their non-conf, with their loss to Iowa. I would have Iowa going 4-0.

I would give Iowa a loss of one at Oklahoma or Texas, more likely at Oklahoma. Iowa beat a 10 win and an 11 win team on the road last year, and loss to another 11 win team in overtime on the road with a redshirt freshman quarterback. Most of the players from that team are back.

I think Iowa would beat Nebraska at home. I'd say somewhere around 10-2 for Iowa.

ISU with Iowa's schedule, I would have them beating Eastern Ill and Ball State, and losing to Iowa and Arizona.

I'd have ISU splitting with roadies at Indy/NW, beating Minnesota on the road, losing against PSU, OSU, @Mich, Wisconsin with MSU being a toss up.

I would have ISU's record being worse with Iowa's schedule than I do with their own 'tougher' schedule. Perhaps I am being too optimistic with my 3-1 OOC projection, but since they have NIU and Utah at home, I will give them the wins. It's hard to pick this, because while I think ISU's defense is going to be poor, I want to see what CPR can do as he did a lot last year with that bunch.

I'm amazed you have ISU beating Utah but losing to Arizona with Iowa's schedule. Jack Trice isn't that big of a homefield advantage.
