Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules
Who freaking cares about iowa or how they would do with our schedule?

Miller also forgets the "heat" factor when traveling south to Austin or OU.
Conditioning becomes a huge factor for Midwest teams heading south EARLY in the season. By the end of the season . . most conditioning issues equal out.
To Miller: Spare me the "Iowa beating TTU at the dome" in San Antonio at the end of the season years ago.
Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules
The irony is out of one side of their mouth, some will say Iowa State would fair much better in the Big 10. And out of the other side of their mouth, they joke that Nebraska is going to get a huge wake-up call in the Big 10.

Thinking off the top of my head, it goes a ways back to where they have been completely out of a game (maybe the 2003 orange bowl). Sure those tougher teams such as OU and UT would be incredibly tough games to win, but I'd go as far to say that Hawk fans should worry more about the under-the-radar teams such as Northwestern and Iowa State who have been known to give the Hawks trouble in the past. Everyone here knows that the Hawks play to the level of their talent, like it or not. That's why I think 9-3, 10-2 as realistic with one of those games in OU or UT being a win and then losing a game or two to a Missouri or Iowa State. As for Iowa State, I see them going around 6-6 7-5 with losses to Arizona, Iowa, Wisconsin, OSU, Penn State, Michigan State. As another poster said, I don't think Jack Trice plays a whole lot of a difference in home-field advantage. Sure I love the environment, but as an opposing team, I don't see it as a stadium that I dread going into. I'm sure I'm gonna get criticized on here for my thoughts, but that's my honest answer and unlike half the posters on here, I'm not blinded and think the Big 12 hails over all. Sure ISU's schedule is tougher, but I wouldn't say Iowa's is cake, just because the big games are at home, I don't think that would really change much in ISU's case.
I think you are ignoring the fact that these games are following bye weeks for UT and OU and that those teams would have an extra week to prepare...
Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules
I have said for a long time that the Big Ten is weak. If ISU and Iowa truly did flip schedules, it would show. Iowa will be a better team than ISU this year, but the records will show that they are far superior, due to the lesser competition in the Big 10.

Other than 2005 when has Iowa had high expectations under KF and they didn't live up to them?

Most years I'd say you were right on, but this year the big 12 south has lots of teams that have some question marks. I think the 2 conferences are very similar this season.

That's laughable, 25 years of season tickets in Ames has made me a realistic fan, obviously someone who's ISU history goes back as far as Seneca Wallace wouldn't have any idea what that was like.

As stated earlier, Iowa tends to play to its competition. Struggle against Arkansas State and UNI, go to Penn State, Wisconsin, etc and get wins. Almost a win with a backup QB at tOSU. A trip to Miami to beat Georgia Tech.
As with other posters, I'll go ahead and give Iowa a 1/1 split on the Oklahoma/Texas games.. could win both, could lose both. My real concern would be with the middle/lower-middle pack squads.

Nowhere really, but let's continue to live by the hyperbole that Iowa never lives up to expectations.
Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules
For Iowa, I'd say we'd be predicted to go ~10-2. I think we'd probably go ~9-3. 8-4 would be pretty low for a team with such high expectations.
Wins against NIU, KSU, UNI, Kansas, and Colardo
Losses against Texas, OU
Torn on ISU, Nebraska, Missouri, Utah and Tech
---
For ISU, I think on paper, you guys would be predicted to go 6 wins tops. But if your program is on the rise, I don't think 7-8 wins would be impossible.
Wins against EIU, Ball State, Indiana, Minnesota
Loss against OSU
Torn on Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern, PSU, MSU, Arizona and Michigan
If you can beat Iowa, Wisconsin and MSU should also be beatable, as personally I think these teams have very similar playing styles and Iowa, as of late, has played these guys pretty close.
Not sure about Arizona, as I'm not sure about Iowa's own trip out there this season.
Michigan could probably be a win for you guys, but since I don't think they've sucked like this in quite some time, it's tough to predict how you'd do at the Big House.
As for Northwestern, I really don't know. Iowa could crush these guys next season, or we could lose...again. So I can't say how ISU would do against the Wildcats.
Finally, you have PSU. Not knowing how their QB situation is going to shake out, I can't really say. However, perhaps you guys will have the same fortune against them as we have had?

Iowa state would beat Arizona. They did get killed by a team that iowa state beat. Neb. And with a upset with osu, iowa state would win the big ten
