I think the only reason iowa loses to OU would be b/c it would be played in Norman. I don't care if they struggled at home against Ark State and UNI....i'd kill for an 11-2 year, no matter how ugly it looked.

Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules
No way would Iowa win at OU and Texas back to back.
Iowa sucks.

Re: Iowa State and Iowa: Swap Schedules
I really can't see Iowa facing down OU AND Texas on the road. Even if we assume Iowa's luck on the road held up this year, the only tough road games we had back to back last year were Wisconsin and MSU. And I really don't think those compare to playing AT OU and AT Texas, who both have home win percentages in the 90s.

That said, I think Iowa is just not on the level of Texas and OU. Who did they beat that was very good? Wisconsin is probably the best. They beat a lot of above average teams, but none that were bordering on great. That includes Georgia Tech. There is a reason Paul Johnson doesn't win bowl games, and it's because that offense is easy to stop when people get a month, as opposed to a week.
Iowa would most likely, IMHO be 9-3 with our schedule, which is only one game off the 10-2 I think they'll get with their own.

It's unlikely they walk out of those games with a win, but I think a good Iowa team could play with an equally matched Texas team, or OU team. Now, how well Texas rebounds after losing McCoy or OU without Bradford, I really don't know, but I think OU probably will do it better (Landry already started the previous year).

People said that about Texas after Vince Young left, too. And after Chris Simms. And after Major Applewhite...
The problem with that argument is that it really doesn't matter who Texas lines up at QB, because chances are, they're 3rd stringer is probably better than three-quarters of the starting quarterbacks in the country.

Didn't a 6-6 team Iowa look pretty evenly matched(and probably should have won) against a Texas team with McCoy starting his first season? Texas is not going to be a powerhouse team this season. Oklahoma, maybe.

The reason Johnson hasn't won a bowl game is because he has gone up against two fantastic defenses. Why is it that Navy won their bowl game?

Yeah, you're right that Iowa team did lose to a Texas team that was completely not motivated to play in such a low-tier game for them.

Well, I'm not sure what Al was trying to say, but over the last 5 years, you're looking at Texas beating USC for a national title, the Big Ten champion Ohio State, and Oklahoma.
Iowa's has had some impressive wins against Penn State and the like, but nothing like what Texas beat.
Do you believe Iowa is on equal ground with Texas?
Also, care to weigh in on the original post at all? Records of each time if they swapped schedules?

However, I do think Iowa could have competed last season with Texas and I definitely think they would be able to beat them this season.
I think Iowa would go 10-2 with ISU's
Iowa State 5-6 or 6-6.

Always love when people throw the non-motivated excuse out there. Probably one of the worst excuses for teams losing or playing poorly in bowl games.
