    Re: CPR "Funnel" Drill

Looks like an extended version of what we used to call "nutcracker" drills.

That's the old Oklahoma drill with layers added (TE blocking LB, and WR blocking DB).
    There was one?

Lots of offensive holding going on there.

Our RB's sure look quick and explosive!

There is holding every play, it's just a matter of keeping the guy close and not letting the zebra see it. On defense, if your being held it's your fault because you didn't keep his hands off. It is harder if your an inside lineman so I acknowledge that though.
    Oh, hai there

I wonder if that is designed for defense or offense. If O we look good. If D we look really bad! None of the guys were getting off blocks, but as mentioned above there was a ton of holding.

In my opinion it is meant for running backs and wide receivers who take screens. They were working on using their blockers and agility to get through the maze.

It's for everyone. Just a drill to build some technique but mainly toughness. Defense knows what's coming, other than which side the RB is going to, so they have the advantage.

    Re: CPR "Funnel" Drill

Agree that the drill is for "everyone" but it's about impossible for any drill to not be biased towards either the offense or defense. I think this was biased towards the offense - a blocker for every defender, they were never more than two yards apart and didn't have to fight any traffic to get to a block, and holding was allowed. They were also spaced out enough that the backs never really faced more than one blocker/defender group at a time though they did come in quick succession.
"No matter how many hours you study opponent films, there's only going to be eleven players on the other side of the line of scrimmage." - Sid Gillman

It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element.

I think WR blocking is going to be a huge factor in how successful our offense is next year...its got to get better than it has been. With more and more screens and read running plays, the WRs have to be able to block and block well. If they can, we will have a great season offensively.

Anybody see K.O just straight dominate a guy? I couldn't tell who the D tackle was but it was a pretty nice pancake. It looked like the next play a DT got pancaked again. That will be nice to watch this season. K.O is a beast

    This

Back in 2007 at KU, their WR's blocked the every living **** out of the Clones D-backs. It was impressive to see...unfortunately.

I think that was Parker who made the tackle on the last play...if so, good to see him going at full speed.
