Yep, the throw back were the way to go when they came out with new uniforms, but they muffed it up. We did not get very close to the throw back look that JP said we would. They gave us bright yellow pants and numbers on the jersey instead of more of a classic gold color on the uniform picture in the post above. I mean come on guys, doesn't the golden color above look much better than the bright yellow they put new uniforms? And what the heck is up with red on red on the helmets?

The trouble is I don't know know what the best look would be for the home jerseys.

I was thinking maybe this:

or just darken the gold of our current jerseys

I've been trying to keep down on the white, and make it more "cardinal and gold." The first picture would probably be a modern version of the 1970's unis. I don't know if I'm a huge fan of that, but not really a fan of the new home uni's either. Maybe we could just keep those 2007 throwbacks for home and away games.

If they do make a change for the better (aka get 2007 throwbacks) they should never change it again. I'm a fan of giving the football team an identity and sticking with it.

I can live with our current style, although I reeeeeally like those gold helmets instead of red ... the "State" gets a little lost but the I is prominent anyway, and I think it's better contrast. Wish they had used that, with gold pants, both home and away. Doing that alone would come more closely to '70s throwback with the modern touches.

It would be possible to tweak the cardinal and gold tones without changing the overall design, too ... but any change over the next several decades should be subtle ... adjustments to number styles, stripe widths and colors, things like that.

I must say, I quite like our jersey number style.

hmm... that jersey in the top picture is to dark. That looks to much like Arizona State but everything else looks great. Can you do one with a lighter shade of cardinal so we can see what that looks like. Thanks.

I like a lot of what is going on with the Uni right now, at least I think I do, unless they have changed again... It is so hard to say since everything changes every 2.7 years. I agree with one thing, pick something sharp, classy, not gaudy or flashy and stick with it. The I-State is fine, now just keep it and get the colors right, then stay with it for 10 years so at least our fans know what we look like.
