Prospect
Robert Standard
It says on sout he is going to make his decision on Thur. and it seems we have the homestyle atmosphere he is looking for. Scout.com: Standard sets a date for his decision -
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -
Re: Robert Standard
The kid has a really good attitude, very good get if we can land him....

I am not too worried if we don't sign him. I think the next three years will be the Shontrelle show. We will probably sign a similar style back for depth though.

Re: Robert Standard
Academics are a big factor as well? I guess that leaves out Nebraska!

I'm not seeing this supposed lean from the interview. He may very well pick Nebraska, but I don't think anything from that interview tips his hand.

Wheneveer a football player says something about education being important, it makes me think that it is just being thrown in there to make mom happy. Unless the guy is a really good student, I see it as the PC thing to say.
Now, I can see a kid being interested in a learning center specifically geared to athletics. That makes sense to me.

Unless your intended major is not offered at one of your top schools I guess.
That's just, like, my opinion man. -
Re: Robert Standard
I actually read his comments and feel pretty good about our chances. He sounds like a kid that wants a staff that he likes (Iowa State), a kid that wants to be around people that are going to give 100% like he will (CPR), He wants to feel at home (Iowa State).
He likes the Big Ten (Nebraska).
So does the kid want to play in his favorite conference or does the kid want to play for a staff and a school that fits pretty much everything he is looking for in a college? My take.... advantage Iowa State.
FYI... he certainly isn't going to enjoy the Nebraska staff (Pelini brothers and a tool like Barney Cotton) as much as he will enjoy being around the ISU staff.

I don't know enough about Nebraskas system, but he seems like a perfect fit for ISUs system. SJ and Standard could wreak a lot of havok in Hermans backfield.

They certainly could. An offense like Hermans sure seems like it can benefit greatly from always having a fresh guy in the backfield. Having two talented guys in the backfield would go a long way in keeping the offense rolling for 4 quarters.

Re: Robert Standard
shontrelle and ARob could be an Awesome tandem in the backfield this year! We have a lot to look forward to!
