Get out your checkbook. Iowa State has the plans ready, now it needs one major donor and a whole bunch of other donors. Are you in? Snarky remarks don't build ****. Cash does.

ummm, yeah. I have been upping my donation to the Cyclone Club every year, and am currently sitting comfortably in the 'Captains' designation. I have also asked the AD about whether there is a specific drive for JTS renovations that I can make an additional donation to, which has fallen on deaf ears - apparently because smaller donations to the cause are not needed for some reason....
How about you Senolcyc? How 'in' are you? Pretty tough of you to call people out w/o knowing their situation first.

Thats odd. So basically Pollard is only looking for big donations? I would think he would take what ever he can get. However, is seems like the Jack Trice expansion is kinda on the back burner. Is that the general feeling for those who talk to Jamie regarding this project?
It's not so odd if the project isn't going to started for a long time. Why tie up the smaller donors' money for something that isn't going to happen in the foreseeable future, when there are other pressing needs?
"Don't worry Boss...they can't do nothin' 'til they're through sparklin'..."

Why is TCU's project an excuse to take a blind side cheap shot at Iowa State?

It's not odd at all. It's basic fund raising. Lead donor first, then next level major donors, then everybody else. Without the lead donor, there is nothing.
the pictures TCU posted of the proposed stadium look really nice. Makes you excited for a few years down the road when Jack Trice upgrades...hopefully
That's a pretty nice looking stadium. I really like how steep the bleachers go up, it should make for a really nice/loud atmosphere (assuming that place is packed).

one bad thing about Jack Trice... it goes out but not up!

I just wonder if we are getting to the point where JTS is going to be a major stumbling block for recruting not too far down the road. A school like TCU who we compete with directly with for recruits, and isn't even on the BCS level will have a more updated stadium. Another few years and it will be the worst BCS stadium, it is probably close already. Don't get me wrong, I love our little stadium, but we need an upgrade very soon.

Yes it would help having a nice staduim, but getting players all comes down the the right people in the right places. Getting players is based on relationships. From a money spending stand point ISU is always going to be at a disadvantage, we have to have the right people to overcome that. Seats down win games, coaches do. That is why CPR should be kept at ISU at any cost, that is the best investment ISU can ever make towards its future in building the athletic dept.

I will say it again...these projects are not necessarily about the expansion of seating (although sometimes that happens)...they are primarily about the expansion of revenue streams.
That is why these projects cost so much...adding seats is relatively cheap...adding amenities that people will pay extra for (suites / club seats / etc.) is much more costly...but rewards you with a long term revenue stream.
By the way, for all their recent success, TCU is not a very strong draw at the gate.
So spend $100 million today just to increase annual revenue by a couple of $Million. Dude you need some finance 101.
Make no mistake. For ISU, growing the fan base and increasing ticket sales is paramount. Increasing ticket sales that will lead to increasing capacity - game in and game out is the answer to increasing revenue streams. ISU has not tapped this out yet.
Increasing "amenity" revenue streams work for mature/developed programs who have capped out ticket sales and seating capacity etc.
Do you really think that investing $100 Million in order to increase hot dog sales is really a viable and solid finacial strategy.
