Re: New Commit
It says he had 8 blocked kicks but I didn't see any in the highlights. 8Blocked kicks in an huge number for a team for a season, This just seems wrong.

Vertical jump quickly makes up for lack of height. Most CB's are in the 5'8" - 5"10" range, with a ginormous vertical.
As far as body weight: that can be altered. I'm sure he will put on another 10-15 lbs after a couple of years of collegiate weight training.

Yeah, I was a CB in high school. When Prepared, Fear No One. -

Re: New Commit
I like the fact that this Sam Richardson had scholarship offers from Air Force and Navy. They place a high priority on intelligence, character, tenacity, and leadership skills. From viewing the new arrivals interviews, (on Cyclone. com), it is becoming apparent that CPR values those same traits in the players being offered football scholarships here at Iowa State.
Only question that I have is "What do we do if Sam Richardson (QB from Winter Park, Florida) accepts our offer of a FB scholarship ?"

Re: New Commit
17 blocked kicks is apparently not a typo. That is insane.

Re: New Commit
Sam Richardson is a "Texas Top 20" defensive back..... Nuff said.
On a team filled with skilled talent, junior corner and punt returner Sam Richardson may be the best of the bunch. Despite his 5-7, 165-pound frame, Richardson is a dynamic playmaker with impressive physicality.
"I think Sam is our best player on the football team. I got a kid named Desmond Jackson at Oklahoma and I thought he was the best cover guy I had coached until Sam. Sam hasn't given up a touchdown pass in two years, plays man on the backside of a trips set a lot and has shut down other team's best receivers. A legitimate, tough, hard-nosed player," Hartman said.
Richardson has intercepted three passes and returned a pair of punts for scores on the season. West Virginia, Baylor and Iowa State, among others are showing interest

Wow, high praise from Sam's coach.

That's coming from a coach who's got a team currently filled with D-1 talent and that has dealt with D-1 talent for quite some time. -
Re: New Commit
I'm excited for this guy on the defensive side. He came off of his man to make a play on the ball numerous times in his highlights. His punt return clips were nice as well but I really want to see him in the d backfield. I can't believe he has no stars.
