Clive adding more red light cameras
Not only are they adding 3 more cameras to intersections. They are upping the fines. This is all about the money. Fine, add more cameras for "safety." But why up the fines? I hate big brother finding every excuse to take more of my money. I will just stay out of Clive all together.

Its obvious that its a money grab. I just wish the cities that do set up these red light cameras would just come out and admit it.

Are they looking for footballs?

Re: Clive adding more red light cameras
$300,000 in Revenue last year from the cameras, and growing. Give them more of our money to mismanage.

(well, your car anyway) going through the light. My complaint was I made a conscious stop (california stop... rolling stop) w/e, at the intersection as the light was yellow, turning red. It wasn't a continuous 90° turn, but it seems to me that they ticketed me just because I beat the East bound traffic thru the intersection. Difficult to explain, I asked a friend of mine, who is a cop his thoughts and he said, it wasn't a dangerous move, and it seemed like Urbandale will take whatever it can get. No, he wouldn't have written the ticket.

Re: Clive adding more red light cameras
About 3 or 4 weeks ago a Clive official was being interviewed about it.
He said the initial point of the cameras was not about money but to reduce accidents. Then a sentence later he says that accidents have not gone down but they are going to install more cameras.
That right there proved it's about the money and not public safety. That's the sickest and saddest part about it.

Re: Clive adding more red light cameras
So what intersections are they adding them too?

Re: Clive adding more red light cameras
I'm just interested in seeing how far they take this.
-Will they ticket you if you stop but are past the line?
-Are they ticketing people that enter the intersection on green and turn left on red?
-Will they ticket you if you slide through during winter or wet weather?
If they are just going after people that go through the intersection after it turns red then I really don't have an issue. This has become a real problem and makes it tough when people are in the intersection trying to turn left. If someone goes through the intersection on red, it is just an accident waiting to happen.

Re: Clive adding more red light cameras
All i'll say is thank god they dont have these out in west des moines. Some of the delays on these lights, especially if you're wanting to turn left (since so many have red lights for the left lane) are absolutely ridiculous at night. You can sit there for quite awhile, and ive definitely given up and run them a couple times when there were no cars for a mile in any direction.

(and, fwiw, ive not gotten one of these tickets) Me. (And whoever busts my chops for 'complaining' about this ticket, please refrain. You've let me know the previous two times I've stated this that I shouldn't complain since I admittedly went thru the light....)
But I swear that yellow light seemed quicker than normal. No cars on the streets, late in the evening, no one at the intersection, I approach the left turn on Hickman and 100th and as I am rolling up to turn left, it turns yellow, and then red in the middle of the intersection and FLASH.....$75.
