Who becomes ISU's "true" rival if Iowa is dropped?

I think the KSU game should become a trophy game as pointed to by several Fanatics on here. With the 4 schools sort of joined at the hip, it may be hard to have a big rivalry with any of them. What do you guys think?

Either Kansas State or Missouri. I could handle either. Perhaps Kansas.

We wouldn't have one then. That's not a big deal. Lots of schools don't. Look at Penn State, for example. They don't have one in FB either.

No, its not. Barta and JP are both on record of wanting the game to continue despite 9 conference games. Plus, the legislature might have something to say.

I have heard the argument about scheduling "easier" games in order to achieve a certain number of wins, but one point that cannot be overemphasized is the rising cost of scheduling middling teams that don't fill the stands. I saw that (please don't kill me for raising the name) Iowa paid Ball St around $800,000 for the game. That's a lot of money...more money than Iowa (myself in the past included) complains about losing to ISU due to the gate-sharing, which is set to end in the next 2 years. Plus, I tend to think that if most teams are scheduling teams like Ball St and don't have rabid fans who will pay to see anything (see Nebraska), then teams may start to make less and less money on those games. Thus, for scheduling reasons, rivalry reasons, political, economic, and so on, the rivalry stays.

I for one would be deeply saddened if the game ended. I am one of those Iowa fans who wants to win this game more than any other (unless we were playing OSU in the Big 10 title game but how often does that really happen)...side note, I grew up in Des Moines and ATTENDED and GRADUATED from Iowa, so that may be why I enjoy this rivalry so much.

I should have said that I think once both teams go to 9 conference games, that I think the Iowa/ISU game will remain as both teams only major BCS level game and then both teams will schedule two home gimme games (not including UNI which has been a nightmare for both teams). If I could choose, I'd like to see Iowa play UNI, ISU and another Big East/ACC team every year, and I would like to see ISU play UNI, Iowa and Nebraska every year (my dislike for NE is only slightly behind my dislike for ND and equal with my dislike for Minnesota).

Won't kill you for raising the name, but they might for attention to detail.......you know what the M stands for after the 800, right?? Even if you meant 800k, I think you are high.
