Chris~
Maybe you can help me straighten something out here.
In your chat you mention how its not a bad thing that we dont have a punter at this point because competition breeds success. And I completely agree. Ive seen it in my own life.
We also talk about how teams like NIU and the CornFuskers who still dont have QBs is definitely a bad thing. I also agree with that.
However, it appears we have a paradox here. How can I agree with both of those things?
Either fierce competition breeds success, or it doesn't?

I see that as different.
At Nebraska, you have two QB's who they had hoped would be ready to TAKE the job by now.
ISU's punter situation shows you a walk on and a true freshman battling it out. In all reality, neither one should be ready to play, even Kuehl who is a senior. Most walk ons never see the field. The fact that this is even a conversation means that the senior has REALLY stepped up his game. He wouldn't be in the mix if he hadn't.
DOes that make any sense? I totally see your point. I just think that the two situations are very different.

Huge difference between a QB and Punter. QB is the leader of a team. It's never good when you don't have a clear leader of a football team. Plus....we won't use our punter much this year!

Yeah, I have decided I can agree with both statements because of the difference in the postions. However, the premise is still the same. Fierce competition does breed success. But I think the QB position is the anomaly. You do not want to be locked in a QB controversy at this point in the year.
