Re: Jon Miller Predictions
If ever there was a year Iowa could go undefeated, it's this one. Their defense is stacked and their special teams are solid. That's what you need to contend.
That said, I don't think they'll actually do it. I look for them to finish 9-3 or 10-2, which is still a great season. Now, if they had Bulaga and Speivey back, I wouldn't hesitate to put them in the NC game.
Either way, Ferentz seems to have that program in great shape right now.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
I think they'll get roughed up in Tucson.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
What would be funny is if Iowa (full of seniors) go 7-5 in 2010
Nebraska goes 8-4 in 2010
They both lose a lot and then they are both are at 5 or 6 win teams when the meet for the first time in conference play at the end of the season. (that = nobody cares. )
Then that year ISU is 9-3.
I would think that would be our best case scenerio for shutting NU, UI and both Des Moines Radio stations up for awhile.. How cool would that be? Even if ISU is not that good 2 years from now if both NU and UI are bad that would be so funny.
Then mix that in with ISU on a serious talent rush in baskeball....you get the picture
Probably not going to happen, but man a guy can wish.
And for the NU and UI fans on this board....
The reason for this.
I was already asked at work how many medical staff was available for the NU vs ISU weekend in Ames.
The 1 UI guy in my dept. is thinking National Title.
This is in a facility of 900 people in ames. And I can only count 10 Hawkeye fans and 3 Nebraska fans of 900. If that doesn't say I am a DB than I don't know what does.
all said and done.....They had 6 games minimum where they probably should have lost. they happen to win everyone of them.
We will see if that luck continues. 9/05/09 #22 v. Northern Iowa .................. W 17-16 1-0 (0-0)

If I didn't have to deal with the UI fans that I know then I would proably go for them. But since I do then Sorry Hawks.
I guess I need better friends.

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Check back to this post in December. :P Going undefeated is so close to impossible. Just having the year that Iowa had last year is extremely difficult. I don't think that this year's team really has that streak in it.
I would think 9-3 is about right, yet extremely disappointing to their fans.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
Jon is on record saying Iowa will lose 1 game in the B10, but beat OSU to take the tiebreaker.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
WOW...just saw it over at HN. Jon must have changed his tune.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
Why isnt anyone talking about Penn State beating them? I Say they lose to Wisky, Penn State and Ohio State. With possibilities of Arizona and Northwestern too. AND they have to play Michigan in the Big House.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
Losses to Ohio State, Wisky, and Michigan. Cap One Bowl.

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
What he says here is straight comedy:
"also think that Iowa and Ohio State will enter their November 20th game with identical 10-0 records, with the Buckeyes ranked #1 in the nation and Iowa #2 in the nation. If that comes to pass, it will be the biggest game in the history of Kinnick Stadium and an atmosphere unlike any seen before it inside those hallowed walls."

I guess I need better friends. No way that is accurate. Iowa was up by 10 points against Arkansas St. when they scored a TD with a minute left. Iowa then recovered the onside kick to seal it. Iowa was up by 9 points against Michigan with like 4 minutes left and then gave them the ball back with about 1:30 left. Iowa then intercepted a pass to seal it. Iowa dominated Wisconsin in the second half of that game and won by 10.
I will give you MSU, Indiana, and UNI though. I have Iowa going 10-2 this year, with them going 12-0 if they catch every break and 8-4 if they don't.

Did he put any real thought in any of these predictions? I can make crazy predictions too. ISU will win every game for ever and ever until the world ends. Now put me on the radio!

Re: Jon Miller Predictions
I know one thing. Put your mortgage and your parents mortgage on Iowa losing (or at the very least covering the spread) at Northwestern. That is a lead pipe lock.

I quit trying to predict the future a long time ago
