What happens to G7 if it keeps raining?
If it keeps raining today and into tomorrow, G7 is going to look like Woodstock. Will the University close it or will they continue to let people in because it's a donor lot? If they do close it, does that mean the public lots that are open have to honor G7 passes?
I'd rather they not close it, but I can't imagine many people will want to tailgate in conditions that resemble WW1 either.

I suspect they'll close it.

If there's nowhere to park, we might be looking at lowest attendance in 10 years. Ames isn't set up to have thousands of displaced vehicles. Thankfully, it sounds like G2/3 are in a lot better shape than G7, as well as everything south of 16th St.

Whoever said the Vet Med lots in the other thread posted the most likely answer, I'm guessing.
I'm really bad about which lot is which. Last night's rain just makes me think they'll close one if there's any doubt.
For my part, it definitely looks like a walk from Hy-Vee.

Looks like people need to arrive very early.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I haven't been to Ames since the flooding, but is G7 in shape to be used even if it doesn't rain anymore?

Re: What happens to G7 if it keeps raining?
I was in town last weekend, and all the lots looked pretty decent. Coldwater, on the other hand, looked like hell.
Was G7 one of the lots in question in the press releases?
In years past, they've let people into G7 after rains. Presuming it doesn't get much heavier - I think you'll be ok.
It's been so dry the last few weeks, the ground is probably soaking it up pretty well.

Re: What happens to G7 if it keeps raining?
if the grass lots around the stadium are unusable ISU needs to do like the Aggies....
have the general public park at a staging area and BUS the fans to the stadium...
if there is no parking fans will refuse to show up and walk miles and i mean miles to see a football game.....
instead of bowling in the south endzone maybe jamie should pave the grass lots for football parking....

Re: What happens to G7 if it keeps raining?
If they close some lots why don't they have Cyride run back and forth from Kmart. State fair does this with Dart at the Capitol. Seems to work well there. Yeah, it would hurt for tailgating but they could still get people to the game. You could charge a couple bucks. Could even let those with parking passes on for free.

G7 Thursday afternoon. -
Re: What happens to G7 if it keeps raining?
The first Thursday game is notorious for a late arriving crowd and poor tailgating atmosphere before gametime. The weather is going to make it 100 times worse.

I doubt that, as the weather is supposed to get better as the day goes on. The late arrivals won't be dealing with bad weather.
Really the worst thing weather-wise is what has already happened. It's the rain that fell yesterday and last night inundating the grass lots. It's not more than a 50% chance of scattered showers ending in the early afternoon for tomorrow, anyways. Of course, if it's more than a 10% chance of rain, people act like it WILL rain.
