Some quick stats from tonight
Just going over the box score before Cyclone Reaction begins.
- Austen Arnaud accounted for 300 total yards on the night, 265 through the air and 45 on the ground. He also threw 2 picks, while rushing for one TD. AA's best stat of the night is the fact that he completed 75 percent of his passes.
- Collin Franklin caught 5 passes and averaged 15 yards per reception.
- A-Rob ran for 97-yards and a TD. He averaged 5.1 YPC but had the one long 63 yarder that skewed that average quite a bit.
- Iowa State's offense racked up 403 total yards compared to NIU's 249.
- Arnaud connected with 8 different Cyclones tonight.
- Iowa State averaged 5.5 yard per play. The Cyclones averaged 7.4 yards per pass play.

Re: Some quick stats from tonight
But AA accounts for three TOs, if we attribute the fumble to him.

Don't you mean the "fumble?"

I almost did the quotes. I finally decided to go with it, since they ruled it (even though I'd really like to see a replay). The replay clearly showed forward movement of the ball -- start the horizontal pass at the 40 and the receiver drops it at the 43 -- ball moves forward three yards. That's an incomplete forward pass the last time I looked at the rules.

ISU probably deserved the lose that review, after the stupid penalty that negated that first touchdown run. The game should've been 24-0 or 27-0 at the half, and we wouldn't have had to endure that 3rd quarter atrocity.

So I'll say he really isn't responsible per se for that one, since he doesn't deserve blame there.
Man, I don't remember the last game where I felt like we could have been up 5 TDs in the 1st half.

Re: Some quick stats from tonight
The ball was thrown forward less than a yard. Watching replays, I thought it was clear it was a forward pass.

I agree-it looked to me like it clearly went forward-tho only a half yard to a yard. I think what may have made it look like a lateral was not the actual path of of the FB but the players position when it occured.

Re: Some quick stats from tonight
ISU had more turnovers than sacks, that has to improve and no TD passes with 3 interceptions, much to improve there too but they looked good in the first half

NIU QB was very mobile and threw a lot of short passes - tough to get sacks. next week will be a better sample of getting pressure.
