Standing for the Whole Game
What started as a great student effort to support their team has gone too far. However, it now seems that people all over the stadium are standing through the whole game. And they look at folks who don't as if we aren't supporting the team.
Well, my feet hurt when I stand for long periods of time. Further, I actually like it when something like a key third down brings the fans to their feet. It was our football sense of how to act as a crowd in these situations to help our team that previously distinguished us as a well-educated fanbase.
Maybe we should sell "standing" tickets and "seats."
Man, do I sound old, but my feet hurt!

Re: Standing for the Whole Game
This has to be a ******* joke. People have GOT to stop ******** about other people standing up and cheering for our team. Seriously, do you WANT a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere?! My God, in our section tonight, a guy was heckling another guy who was standing up and cheering for our team. He even began to yell and push him until he finally sat down.
It's beyond ridiculous that some of these people have to tell others to sit down. If they want to stand, LET THEM STAND. If you want to sit, they make couches and TV's for a reason.
I'm sorry, really, but give me a ******* break.

Went to a Alabama/Auburn game once.....fans stood the whole game. Never sat down.

Re: Standing for the Whole Game
If the price of admission to ISU games is that you have to stand the whole time, screw it, I'll save the money and watch on TV - when they are on.

Some of these people act like we're at a dog show or something. I can't even believe some of the things I've been reading/seeing lately.

Man, do I sound old, but my feet hurt! Consider requesting a handicap seat. From there you can sit while everyone is standing and still see. Otherwise get over it. My mother dealt with that for years, never complained because she understood the need for those to stand to support the team. Now she and my father have handicap seats.
Thanks for letting us stand that want to support our team and be the 12th man. For a well-educated fan base, also understands the concept of 12th man!

I'm sorry, really, but give me a ******* break. I have no problem with standing up for big plays, but there are people that ARE affected by people that stand the entire game. I was sitting next to my 10y\o sister last night who was telling me she had a very hard time seeing anything anytime people were standing. If the people around you dont have a problem with it, its fine, but its incredibly selfish to make others do the same just because you want to.

Re: Standing for the Whole Game
I like the enthusiasm of those who want to stand for the whole game. I certainly wouldn't trade it for people who sit and don't care. However, those who like to stand seem to think that it is the only way to show support for the team. And there are really key expressions of support that are being lost, such as the impact that comes when the entire stadium stands up at a key point. You lose this when everyone is already standing.
And, my feet hurt bad!
However, I would much rather stand in pain with a crowd who cares than sit comfortably with a crowd that doesn't.

Re: Standing for the Whole Game
bottom line, both people paid the price of admission to attend the game. once in, they can do almost anything they want-with a few obvious legal exceptions. i prefer standing and wish that everyone else did as well but i'm not going to expect it just as i would hope you wouldn't expect me to sit down.

Re: Standing for the Whole Game
This should be good. Personally, I like to stand for most if not all of the game. I got a little pissy with an older guy at the Insight Bowl last year because he wanted me to sit down. I was more than a little drunk so I probably overreacted. Fortunately my buddy calmed me down before I did something stupid. But I now understand there are those that don't want to or can't stand the whole game.
Not sure how we could possibly resolve it. No way we could have standing and sitting sections.
