With the future scheduling challenges of the ISU-Iowa series, what would you guys think if the Iowa game was moved to Labor Day weekend?
Both conferences are potentially going to start playing conference games as early as week 2, just like the SEC. That gives the conference a chance to feature its bigger games each week. If either conference does that, there will be few options of where to put the Iowa-ISU game. Week 1 might be the only place it works. ISU-Iowa has opened the season in the past in 1983, 1984, and 1986. So it has happened before.
I would personally love it. It would a new tradition to both schools and the preseason talk would be crazy. Plus it would be a huge exposure for both teams.
ISU's schedule could look like this.
Week 1 - Iowa
Week 2 - Texas Tech
Week 3 - Kansas
Week 4 - D1-AA (UNI, SDSU, NSDU)
Week 5 - Open
Week 6 - Texas
Week 7 - Oklahoma State
Week 8 - MAC/MWC/WAC/Sun-Belt
Week 9 - Oklahoma
Week 10 - Texas A&M
Week 11 - Mizzou
Week 12 - Baylor
Week 13 - Kansas State
Week 14 - Open
Iowa on Labor Day weekend and Kansas State on Thanksgiving weekend every year would be pretty cool.
