Re: CF Analysis: ISU vs. Northern Iowa – All about coaching, no excuses.

I was in Europe a few years ago and found a store that had all ISU gear in the front window....i was completely shocked.

UNI sent some of their allotted 4,00 tickets back. They'll be home watching the Iowa-OSU game. This will be mostly Cyclone fans.

Haha...why is it that people who WENT to UNI are still huge Iowa fans...some people I know actually root for Iowa over UNI. That blows my mind.

It's like the people that go to ISU but still root for Iowa...I always wanted to punch those people in the mouth...

If we don't blow them out ... I am going to be pissed. Jeremy is correct in that thsi is the pivotal game of the season. Win big and that translates into big momentum for the red pukers out to the West. If we look anything less than impressive it will be a tough week hearing from the NU fans and really put us in a bad situation next Saturday. This is a must win game -- and we must look good doing it. No 'ifs or ands' about it.

Our O-line needs to come around as well, seven sacks last week is bad, even if it is Texas. We have a very senior line and it is time they start acting like the bad azzes they should be. There is no reason that Hicks shouldn't have had 100 yards rushing in each of our first four games and for Meyer to be sacked as often as he has this year and last year is unacceptable. I put as much fault for our suspect season so far on our O-Line as our coaching staff

Jeremy, I am shocked that you think Austin is on of the 2 best receivers in our history. I just love the player Austin is and the person he is but come on. Lane Danielsen was better!

That's why he's possibly one of the best, not necessarily the best:) I think Lane has the up on him but Flynn also hasn't played the position very long and didn't have nearly the time to grow into all the special ways to try and beat the defenders that a WR would normally get by growing up in that position their whole life. Being a QB gave him all the right ideas on routes and plays, it didn't give Flynn the tricks of the trade so to speak that can take somebody from a quality receiver to an awesome receiver.

I think if he had a chance to play the position for 4-6 years, he would be a stand-out receiver with a lot of NFL potential, just my personal opinion though and not necessarily one everybody will agree with.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Jeremy:

I have a few comments.

UNI isn't as easy as you are claiming them to be. They will bring their "A" game this weekend. There is no way this will be a blow out. To me, UNI is a much better team than teams like Illinois or Baylor. If Baylor can beat us at JTS, so can UNI.

If the coaches don't do their job right, UNI will definitely win. I don't doubt our players. We have the most talented team in big 12 north. Nebraska and Missouri may challenge us this year but we played better than Nebraska on the road already. If I were Jamie Pollard, I would start evaluating MCarney starting this weekend. Jamie's dream will not come true with MCarney.

Jeremy, for the most part you echo my thoughts or opinions. However, I don't think UNI is as easy as you think they are. We will have an easier time beating Kansas State on the road than beating UNI at home.

I think part of the reason Texas had 7 sacks was because of coverage. They had a good secondary so it gave the d-line more time to get to Meyer. That is only part though, some of the sacks were clearly the line's fault. Did anyone else notice how long it took to call pass interference in that game?

Come on! Do you seriously think that there is a group of people out there than think that UNI is MUCH better than an Illinois or Baylor and I won't even go into playing K State on the road. Do you understand the difference between 1-AA schools and Divsion One teams in the Big 10 and Big XII. Even with coaching mistakes we win this game by more than 10.

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

I will take UNI over Illinois or Baylor any given game day.

We will not win with coaching mistakes.

You do know that UNI lost to a DII team don't you. They also had a tough game with a team that lost to a DIII school. I think UNI has been good lately, but this year they have looked pretty bad, especially the defense. It is completely laughable that you think they would beat Illinois and Baylor. I wont even get into how funny it is that you think they will beat Iowa State. This is not the Jim Walden years!

You either have an undying love for the Panthers and are talking out of your arse or you are hitting the barley pop a little early on Friday. It isn't even worth commenting any further on how absurd your comments on UNI are.

I don't know - the defense got to Meyer pretty quickly to call the majority of those coverage sacks.
