Alford and McDermott play the game the same way. They slow it down, limit transition baskets, and play solid D. If Thompson scores more than 10 points in a game all next season, I'll buy him dinner at Hickory Park and apologize in person.
I would be willing to bet you couldn't score a point in City League. And that includes knowing nothing about your skills or size. 0 points.

AT will be a good role player. Better than Marsden. And better than Taggart ever could have been.

Jeremy,

Don't worry about it too much. Welcome to the wonderful world of recruiting. "Losers whine about their best and winners go home and..." - go rent "The Rock" for the rest. Anyway, anything can, and often will happen. Just another learning experience.

PS> The website is still great, watch out for the hater-aide.

Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.

Dana Altman was making a pitch from #133 ranked , three star, Walker's living room on Tuiesday and Kenton Walker just said I have picked. He then said I have picked Creighton over Iowa State and San Diego State. He also had offers from California, St. Louis and Pittsburgh. As a junior, 15 points a game, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks.

His deciding point per Omaha World Herald?
"He said Academics. He liked the conference. Town was fine. He loved the coaches and the players. He knew freshman 6-9 Lawson from the past who was his player recruit. Jay Robinson, an uncle, lives in Omaha and other relatives are in MVC area (Indiana, Missouri, Illinois). He can step out and shoot the ball. Good against pressure. bringing up court. Defense is ahead of offense. One game he had 16 blocks. Good hearted kid. He made his decision after talking to his family on Monday night."

Creighton is competition to Nebraska and Iowa State and Iowa at this point. The recruiting class they had last year was ther best Altman has had.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

And given how aggressively he pursued a transfer into McD's program and his eventual acceptance, he must be a hard worker, and that is a good combination of factors for any big man under Gregg McDermott.

Who was the MVC player of the year last year? Oh thats right it was a big man from UNI, who was not that highly touted out of high school, and developed under Gregg's watch.
The MVC player of the year was Paul Miller of WSU not some one from Northern Iowa.

Re: ISU loses Walker, McFarland to follow?

The MVC player of the year was Paul Miller from Wichita State (as stated before, who ironically was born in Waterloo---Paul was a pitcher and then walked on to WSU's basketball program I believe). Grant Stout was Runner-Up POY, a farm boy from New Sharon, Iowa.

I think some of you guys aren't giving McD enough credit in player development. You will have never seen guys get better as much as you will with McD. What he did with small school kids from Iowa was impressive...wait till he works with blue chippers.

With that said, Creighton is no slouch. As stated before they have a better attendance record, and will probably grow that lead this year with the addition of seats. The MVC is a very good conference, with some great college basketball towns.

Also, I don't think that Kenton Walker necessarily is getting more of a shot at playing time right away by going to Creighton. They signed the #1 Juco player nationally in Ty Morrison (hoopmasters.com) at PF last year (4 star by scout.com). They also signed Kenny Lawson at PF/C (4 star by scout.com). They also signed Issac Miles at PG (3 star by scout.com). And their 3,4,5 star recruits all show up, so there isn't any attrition. Creighton's good, and making statements such as they have a better shot at playing early at Creighton aren't exactly accurate statements. They will have a 3 year starter in Dane Watts already at PF, also. He's gonna have tons of competition.

Good point pttb - let's face it, the overall health of the Creighton program outclasses ISU in every respect right now.

Actually I will take that bet. I assume next year is 2007, he will play in Nov-Dec 2007, and I will go out on a limb and perdict he will score a point. I will email you when it is time collect. THANKS
