On Campus: Take a Deep Breath

At around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning on my way back to Ames, I drove by Jack Trice, four hours after the Cyclones escaped against UNI. Few people remained and only smatterings of cars were left in the lots. Like a scene out of “Field of Dreams,” a thick fog blanketed the bright Musco lights. The only thing that was missing was ‘Shoeless Joe’ emerging from the Jacobson building.

Very good! Brings up some interesting points, however, didn't we come back after being down huge at Iowa when Seneca was a senior?

Go Cyclones!!

In fact in Dan McCarney’s tenure at Iowa State, it hadn’t happened. Ever.
Unless, of course, you remember beating Iowa after trailing 24-7 at half in 02 or Northern Illinois after trailing 34-20 in the 3rd quarter in 04.

We have to read carefully......Neither of those games were we down exactly two touchdowns at half.

Down 17 to Iowa, not 14
Down 14 to N Illinois, but in the 3rd Quarter, not at half.

A little deceptive, but when read literally, it may be true

Good observations guys. Brent did forget about the Iowa game and really...the NIU game aught to be mentioned there too.

After Iowa State was stuffed on fourth and two before halftime, the murmur of panic turned to silence. Never have 55,000 people been so quiet. Nobody had any idea what to say.

I have experienced that helpless feeling three times in my Cyclone life: Last year at Kansas, 2004 against Missouri and it was most eerily reminiscent to the men’s basketball loss to Hampton in 2001.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Missouri 2004 the Jack went from an explosion on the interception to a funeral march as the crowd exited the stadium. I have never seen a crowd so quiet exiting a stadium, nobody talking just starring forward speachless slowly walking in single file up the stair in no particuliar hurry, did not even hear the complainers that day.
