- Iowa State will face No. 1 seed and regular-season Big 12 champion Kansas State at noon on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The Cyclones defeated Colorado, 76-50, Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the tournament to advance to the next round of play.
- The Iowa State-Kansas State game will be telecast live by Fox Sports Net. Mark Neely will call the action, while Brenda VanLengen provides analysis. All postgame press conferences will be streamed live and live stats can be found at Big12Sports.com.
- Iowa State front court starters Toccara Ross and Nicky Wieben will miss the remainder of the 2007-08 season due to torn ACLs. Ross tore the ACL in her right knee against Minnesota and Wieben tore the ACL in her left knee at Texas. Ross is eligible for a redshirt, while Wieben is not.
- Iowa State will return its entire roster next season. Ross is
ISU’s only senior and should be eligible for another year of competition after her season-ending injury.
- With a 76-50 win over Montana State, the Cyclones collected their 500th win in program history. They are now 515-483 overall.
ISU is two games shy of 1,000 contests in school history.
- Kansas State won the Big 12 regular-season title with a 13-3 conference mark and a 21-8 overall record. It was Kansas State’s first outright title in school history. Head coach Deb Patterson was named Big 12 Coach of the year and senior Kimberly Dietz was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection.
- Kansas State leads the all-time series with Iowa State, 43-24, after taking both regular-season meetings this year. The first meeting between the two teams in Manhattan, the Wildcats dominated, 80-49, but the Cyclones came close to knocking of No. 17 KSU in Ames, but the Wildcats again prevailed, 45-42.
- The Cyclones have won 17 straight at home against non-conference opponents. Iowa State finished 13-4 overall at Hilton this year.
- Iowa State returned 10 letterwinners from its 2006-07 NCAA Tournament team. Last year’s squad went 26-9 overall and 10-6 to finish tied for fourth in the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State lost four players from last season, including a pair of four-year starters in Lyndsey Medders and Megan Ronhovde.
