Re: Wes Eikmeier wins the Gatorade Player of the Year

Okay after all the negative posts and dispersion on small towns and small school players. I have decided not to post anymore on Wes.

Of course this is probably the last piece news that will come out this year that I would be able to post anyway.

Everyone have a good off season.

Re: Wes Eikmeier wins the Gatorade Player of the Year

umm i think it was a bunch of sarcasm... im pretty sure almost everyone if not everyone is excited to have Wes coming to Iowa State. I know i am

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Wes Eikmeier wins the Gatorade Player of the Year

I know, but I just had to say it as a way of jabbing all the negative posters this year. I have noticed as the year progressed they grew less and less. I just replied to his because it looked the best post to attach it to. I am not implying that he has been a negative poster. But I do think I am running out news on Wes for this year.

Question - did he score his points driving the hoop or shooting? We sure could use a guy that can SHOOT!

Wes scored 840 total points, 176 on free thows, 276 on three's and 388 on pull up jumpers and drives to the basket. He shot 54% from the field and 91% from the free throw line.

Again, thanks. Sounds like a perfect kid for McDermott to coach and improve. Like always, I hope the fans don't get to critical if it takes a year. But a shooter is a shooter and we need some of that. I really think Garrett will rise to the starting PG position and with his ability to get past his man and into the lane we'll see some good makable shoots from the outside. WJ will improve his shooting and the addition of this Wes and Lucca we should see a better product on the floor. It is also my personal belief that Brackins will be a real threat down low. I hope that kid didn't get down on himself and his ability this year. He looked real good in the tourney game and seemed to have a determination to finish the season on a high note. No phoning it in is a great sign.

I'd just like to here is caloric intake and hours spent in the weight room in the coming months is all, we know he's a shooter, but he has to develop his body to handle the Big12... I'm not knocking Wes, a lot of players come in skinny... I don't really care how many 3's he makes in the CCL or how good he looks, its what he can do next winter is what matters. Thanks for the info NebrClone (and god bless your soul for living in that state)....

It was a no-brainer in my mind

It seems like forever ive been reading about him. Probobly know more about him and his stats than my own nephews. lol Why does the anti- Wes crowd always mention his weight? Obviously he knows and will add more, everybody cant come to ISU like Hercules Garrett and his massive, ripped body.

I'm glad you were able to rip on one of our current players to try and make a point.

Maybe people mention his weight because we saw how much Garrett struggled because of a lack of weight and strength?

Dude, he wasn't "ripping" one of our players. It was a joke. Lighten up.

I'm pumped to see Ike next year...but I agree with some other post's that his freshman year might be a bit of a struggle so we shouldn't expect a ton of production in year one.

Wes bench presses 235, which is impressive for 170 lb player.
