The Fremont Tribune article talks about his academics and his community involvement. "“When it’s all said and done, he’s got to be one of the greatest players in Nebraska history,” Fremont Bergan coach Chris Paulson said." This is the kind of player everyone will like and hopefully he comes in and dominates like he did in high school, that ought ot get some riled up. 31.1 ppg, 3.7 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.1 assits, he does it all. If you have not wtached his videos, there is link to Videos in the upper right. Gatorade honors Eikmeier - Sports - Prep - The Fremont Tribune - Fremont, Nebraska's Community Newspaper

No doubt in my mind that he will do just that (this assertion and a buck will buy you a Snicker's bar . . . I think).
But from my personal fan's perspective -- and I'll bet I'm far from alone on this -- I'm just as tickled to have Ike because of the kind of kid that he appears to be. Fine student, fine citizen. Of course, from this distance, I'd say this about all four of our signees.
Our rookies appear to be fine people, and in my book that counts . . . for a lot. It helps, though (and many of us here believe it), that they are either pretty fine basketball players already or show the potential to become fine at some point in their college careers. |

BTW, NebrClone,
Thank you for all of the updates throughout the year. I don't think anyone can match your level of information on a recruit. Any chance of you moving to the Ames/Des Moines area. I would love to have your (Wes') updates on one of our prospects, 2010 Harrison Barnes of Ames. |

Now that I think about it, seems like Mac recently said something about them being here this summer, taking some summer courses and working out (assume that means league play, too) so that they have an easy transition this fall.
Hey, NebrClone, just one more "way to go!" and "thanks a million!" for all your Ike reports. Read every one of 'em. |

Credits: 32,970 | Re: Wes Eikmeier wins the Gatorade Player of the Year I just found out that there's an obscure rule in the NCAA handbook that bars players from nebraska from winning back to back Gatorade Player of the Year awards. Thus, Wes will have to sit out next year. No appeal is necessary. Sorry |
