ISU: Exclusive ISU Basketball Uniform Info

I just spoke with a writer for GQ, he said no black shoes on the basketball court. Especially for a team dominated by white guys. It makes them look slow.

That's it!

We should forgot those jerseys made out of fabric and go for "spray-on" jerseys. I'm not sure if I'm ready to see that (maybe for women's volleyball though), but they would theoretically would be very light weight.

They might be a little on the dark side (different lighting can play tricks with different fabrics), however, I wouldn't go as far as to say they're ugly - they're DEFINITELY a step up from the ketchup-and-mustard from yesteryear...

agree...the past uniforms under McCarney were butt ugly and I for one am damn glad we pitched them.

Not saying there is anything wrong with wanting nice uniforms, I think the new unis are a great improvement. I'm just taking a jab at the ammount of uniform analysis that goes on around here. At times it seems to get a little obsessive. I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine that other schools spend as much time pouring over logos, fonts, uniform designs, and shoe colors as we do.

On the other hand, other schools don't go changing their logos, fonts, and colors every 2-3 years...

First time I saw online the VB uniforms to which you refer, I wondered why we had photos of the TA&M team on our site. The color looked just like Aggie plum to me.

I wondered if lighting accounted for that color appearance, or if the manufacturer made a mistake. Anyone seen the VB team play recently, do the unis look cardinal when seen in person?

'Tis better to obsess over logos, fonts, uniform designs, and shoe colors than to obsess over every piece of trivium and minutia that comes out of Iowa City. I consider this obsession a healthy ablation from the Hawk neurosis that this fanbase has.

jdoggivjc hit the nail on the head with that one. If we weren't changing uniforms and logos all the time we wouldn't have to fret over the changes.

That's not true at all. Our design last year isn't one I was wild about, but many many other major D-1 teams had the exact same jersey style with the exact same quality. Nike only makes so many styles for D-1 teams. We're obviously moving to their "elite" style much like we did with our football uniform, which is great.

This is a good pic because you can see the cardinal in the background on the court, and the maroon on the uniform.

If our b-ball uni's look like that it's going to be very confusing with all the different shades of 'cardinal' going around in the athletic department.
