STILLWATER, Okla. - The Iowa State women's tennis team was swept by the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State on Sunday, 7-0. The loss brings Iowa State's record to 4-10 in dual matches this season, the Cyclones are 0-7 in conference matches. Oklahoma State moved to 8-7 with the win. The Cowgirls won their first two Big 12 matches of the season this weekend, defeating Iowa State and No. 66 Nebraska.
To start of the match, the Cowgirls won the doubles point, defeating the Cyclones in two of three matches. The Cyclones lone win on the day came at No. 3 doubles where Liza Wischer and Alyssa Palen earned their first victory of the season, defeating Maryna Tkachenko and Jessica Collins, 8-5. At No. 1 doubles, Erin Karonis and Chrissy Derouin fought hard in against Jo-Anne Karaitiana and Sasha Belova, but lost the match, 9-7. Kara Hickey and Caitlin Loprinzi were also defeated in their doubles match.
