INDIANAPOLIS - Lisa Koll has been named USATF's Athlete of the Week after setting an American collegiate record in the women's 10,000-meters Friday at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
A sophomore at Iowa State, Koll won the women's 10,000k crossing the finish line in an American collegiate record of 32 minutes 11.13 seconds. The previous record of 32:19.97 was set by Alicia Shay of Stanford in 2004. The collegiate record is 31:56.72 by Kenya's Sally Kipyego for Texas Tech in 2007.
Now in its seventh year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
