Re: Confirmed - Vanderbeken, Pomlee, Christopherson

Christopherson is a SG right? We will have a lot of guards in the 09-10 season.

Depth is the key - we've seen it time and time again, depth is the key to eventual success in a tough conference like the B12.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Well, this is about as good as we could have hoped for in the Spring period. Notorious V. D. B. should help out down low, and Pomlee has potential. You can't really have enough shooters, since it seems that Mac has been able to coach D if nothing else.

I hope and pray this is the turning point of our program.

Re: Confirmed - Vanderbeken, Pomlee, Christopherson

Pomlee can be a key player down the road if he can get some muscle and work hard on what he's told to do. He has tons of upside and if he can redshirt next year, it would really help his growth.

Christopherson is a pure steal. He is a sharp shooter and can really grow in Mac's system. With a year of practice and growth, he has a lot of potential to be in competition for quality minutes down the road.

Vanderbeken is probably as good of player as there is right now on the recruiting trails. UConn was going hard and he has a lot of interest late. If he can come in and play right away at the level we need, next year can finally be a growth year instead of just another stabilizing year. VDB really gives our other players the chance to play their true positions and should help us imensly.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Christopherson will have to sit a year, correct? The other two will be needed immediately for depth. This is great.

Now, being a seasoned Cyclone fan, I'll contain any elation until all show up in uniform next season and the NCAA doesn't pull a Lucca on anyone.

Question...Assuming the team stays intact (big assumption) what will we have for 2009 scholarships?

Only 1?

Why would he have to sit out a year? Their coach left just like Alford did and Smith did not have to sit out a year at Tennessee?

Smith had father that was terminally ill. That is the only reason he didn't have to sit out.

Cristopherson will have to sit out a year unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Tyler Smith got a waiver from the NCAA because his father was ill

Tyler got a hardship waiver because he went to his ailing father who eventually passed away. Same thing happened with Tyrone McKenzie leaving ISU for USF. Sometimes the NCAA makes the right moral decision.
