LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech scored five runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Iowa State, 6-1, in Big 12 action on Saturday at Rocky Johnson Field.
For the fourth straight game, ISU (26-24, 3-11 Big 12) put itself in an early hole by giving up five runs to the Red Raiders (19-33, 6-9) in the first inning.
Leah Legler led off the bottom of the first inning with an infield single off Cyclone pitcher Charissa Carlin. After Carlin got Devin Zaragoza to fly out, Montana Patin belted a two-run homer to centerfield to open the scoring. Jennifer Corkin followed with a single to center and came in to score on Jennifer Bowers’ triple that made it 3-0.
