Re: JTS: APPROVED (with renderings)

The question now is: Once funding is secured, how long until we get started???

I would guess if we have a good season it could be sooner. If we have a bad season, it could be later. If EIU has all their players locked in jail and have to get rid of their football program it could be even sooner than that.

As part of their community service they can bring their shovels and start the ground work.

They'll probably bury a stolen jersey somewhere.

I think we should keep the upper deck red and then pull a Invesco stadium and put a put I-State up there, However that would most likely be difficult with bench seats.

Having I-State in the bleachers would be cool

On a side note about I-State, does anyone know if they are actually going to put "I-State" on the back of the press box like they have it in the drawings???? I'm kind of a fan of whats there now... I think painting that on would be a bit odd... but thats just me

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!

How about just a gold "I" on the upper deck instead of the whole I-State logo. That might look odd. These plans will change between now and when construction actually starts. JP needs to add suits between the upper and lower deck.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

I thought that too when I saw it, but that space makes for perfect handicap seating.

They'll need about 600 spaces for wheelchairs, all told. I believe the ADA requirement is 1% of seating capacity. There will also be spaces in front of the new suites on the west side.

I emailed JP to ask about that when those renderings first came out. I said I liked the logo on there, but thought the color made it look out of place. I asked if they'd consider somehow engraving the logo into the concrete instead of painting, I thought that would look pretty sharp. It would probably have a higher initial cost than painting, but would require virtually no upkeep. It wouldn't take much fading for the paint to look pretty shabby.

He responded about an hour later saying that nothing was decided for sure yet, but they were leaning towards the color because they're trying to add more color to that side of the stadium. They think it looks kind of dull and colorless when they bring recruits to the practice facility.

Patrick who?

Awesome!!!!!!!
I actually like the looks of the upper deck with it not being connected to the other sides. I can't wait until this is finished!

Looks pretty sweet! I like the looks of the south upper deck "disconnected" from the east and west sides. What I don't like about it is a lot of noise could be lost through there.

Re: JTS: APPROVED (with renderings)

is it ok for a grown man to cry tears of joy at these pics? holy living bleep!!

an earlier post mentioned to pitch of the south stands, I was wondering if they would design it that way as well, considering the angle of the east/west stands are so shallow.... this closed in end zone will help acoustics/noice level immensely and unless the winds are from the north, you gotta think the south stands will really reduce the crazy swirls coming thru...

way to go JP!!

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.
