LAWRENCE, Kan. – Rachel Zabriskie tossed a three-hitter and Amanda Bradberry delivered a two-out run-scoring single in the fifth inning as Iowa State defeated Kansas, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at Arrocha Ballpark.
The Cyclones (28-27, 4-13 Big 12) out hit Kansas (36-18, 6-11) eight to three in the game and got a homer and a double from Alex Johnson. Kelsey Kidwell also finished with a pair of hits and Courtney Wray laced her fourth triple of the season.
Rachel Zabriskie picked up the win for the Cyclones to improve to 14-12 on the season. The 14 wins are the most by a Cyclone pitcher since 1988. Zabriskie also had four strikeouts in the game.
The Jayhawks got on the board in the second inning when Liz Kocon stole home on a pickoff of Amanda Jobe. Kocon had reached on a leadoff double and advanced to third on a wild pitch by Zabriskie.
