Inside the Numbers

Curtis Stinson and Will Blalock are among the all-time leaders statistically at
ISU. In per-game statistics, we've already seen how effective they have been from game to game. The career numbers also show how effective they were over their careers.
Will had 1078 points, putting him at #20 in points scored. He also had 464 assists and 177 steals. Those are good for fourth in assists and he is tied for sixth in steals. He was only 201 assists away from the all-time record, and only 34 steals away from the record.
Curtis had 1651 points scored, putting him right in the top ten at #10. He was #5 in assists with 448, and #4 in steals with 200. He was only 11 steals away from the record.
Moreover, Curtis is only one of four Cyclones in the top ten in scoring, assists, and steals. The other three are Fred Hoiberg, Justus Thigpen, and Julius Michalik.
Their careers will undoubtedly be remembered with "what if?" scenarios, because they left a year early. They easily would have been number one and two in steals, Blalock could have challenged Hornacek for the record in assists, and Stinson could have found himself among the top two or three in many statistical categories.
No one knows what kind of effect they could have had on the Cyclones next season. One thing is certain though: They have left lasting effects on the
ISU record books and cemented their place among some of the great Cyclones to pass through Ames.
NOTE: If there is some idea that someone would want me to flesh out in a story, go ahead and PM me. I will certainly pour through the stats trying to prove or disprove any theories or anything of that nature. I'm always looking for material to cover for the front page.
