AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State University Athletics Department has granted former men’s basketball player Wesley Johnson a release for eight schools.
Coach Greg McDermott and Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard had multiple conversations with Johnson and his mother last weekend. McDermott and Pollard shared the department’s normal release protocol, which does not allow releases to other Big 12 institutions or schools on any future men’s basketball schedules.
“Although we are disappointed in the way Wesley handled his departure, Greg and I both believe that following our normal release protocol is the appropriate action in this situation,” Pollard said.
As a result of those discussions, Wesley Johnson submitted a list of schools that met our department’s guidelines. Those schools are: Arkansas, Connecticut, Marquette, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Villanova and West Virginia. More... | |

I'm ok with Ohio State, but he if can't handle GMac, how in God's name is going to handle Huggins at West Virginia.

Detroit does sound right to me. Marquette would make sense, but I would think the new coach would be a deterrent.
If I were a player transferring to one of those schools, my number one influence would be schools currently in position to win a NCAA championship. Now, most of these schools are elite, I think only UCONN, PITT, & WV have immanent title hopes.

No love for USC and Tim Floyd? Every school is east of the Miss. He must be auditioning for the Knicks.

Being Close to his agent brother would explain a lot of the final May transition move. They can work together in preparation for landing a job with the Knicks or Cavaliers. Thad Matta can get him on the famous nBig Ten Network.
