I hear Jon could use it for when major events happen...................................................... like when Hilton floods.

A very big yes... this would be worth it for me.

Not sure. I'd try it out.

I'd much rather see the PM system revamped first - get rid of the quoting in PMs and go to the chain method most e-mail programs use.

I think I currently do get charged to receive messages, so I wouldn't use it. If I had a better phone plan I would probably be interested.

I think there should be options to filter out unwanted stuff -- like which sports do you get scores/breaking news for? There could be a general Athletic Department breaking news choice for more general breaking news.

I personally wouldn't sign up if there weren't options like this as I have to pay for every text message received. I probably wouldn't want scores for any sports, but might be interested in breaking news for football and general athletic department news.

I'd assume, depending on how it would be developed (aka, how much time Jeremy wants to put into it), members could subscribe to various alerts (All news, football news, MBB news, etc) and select to be notified via e-mail and/or text message.

I'm working on a project similar to this where I work - subscriptions and alerts when agents have a new application received by us, money is received, contract is issued, etc. The issue for us is rolling up the alerts into daily or weekly summaries. Would not be an issue here - as there would not be so many alerts that it would be annoying. But for us - an agent could easily receive 10-20 alerts in the same day.

Re: Potential CF Feature - CFAlerts

Update - I will be able to have different alerts for the different interests. Depending on how people want it, I can have a Breaking News, MBB Scores, FB Scores, WBB Scores options so you can subscribe to each one separately.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Sounds good as long as the news alerts aren't similar too, "walking taco's" will now be available at Hilton again. Otherwise a good idea. I think you will do a great job with whatever you design!

I might be interested in the Breaking News part but I've got limited texting so the scores would be a no go.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
