ESPN is reporting that Butch Davis took the job at UNC, so he's out of the picture. (Not that he was in it to begin with).
Is Steve Kragthorpe(my avatar) not being mentioned in the discussion because he reportedly dismissed UNC, therefore it's assumed that he wants to stay in Tulsa?

Harbaugh would be a risk...But look at positives
1. Recruiting contacts in California -a hot bed of talent
2. Recruiting contacts in Michigan -same as above
3. Recruiting contacts in Chicago -same same
4. Star quality, a guy parents and recruits would want to meet
5. Youth, he's 41
6. Coaching the talent he inherits to championships.
7. Big 10 connection. That would help vs hawkeyes
8. Former pro player...can show top recruits he has a pipeline to pros
9. QB-should help Meyer immediately, and Arnad, who may be as good as Meyer right now
10. Immediately FIRE UP Cyclone fans across the country. IT WOULD BE EXCITING.

I think the most impressive thing about him is that he has a I-AA NON SCHOLARSHIP team rated 90th in the Sagarin rankings. He is a bit of a risk, but man, the upside could be HUGE.

As well known to some of us as Jim is, he is just as well known to a lot of potential recruiting targets and their fathers. I really feel that if Jim were to come into Ames, he would not only become an incredible asset on the sidelines but he would rejuvenate and mend a lot of the feelings that the fans have right now. He would also bring in some new recruiting areas and regions that we haven't been too good at in the past.
What better way to get things jump started again than to bring in somebody with a great name and aura surrounding them. Note that this is just an opinion and not a reflection of what direction the AD is headed. |
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

I'm with you Jeremy...looking at Harbaughs roster and schedule this year...we would probably have a tough time beating them. He would also overshadow what Iowa is doing I think...

Who cares about what Iowa is doing! We need to focus on ISU and the lack of recent success!!!

You're right 9seven. But every week I cheer for two teams. Iowa State and whoever Iowa is playing. Just can't help myself on that one. Let's go state!

I'm pushing for Mike Price. Nobody else on the list has came close to accomplishing what he has. He took a similar team (Washington State) and turned them into a competitive BCS team.
